Dutch national team coach Bert van Marwijk has hinted that he hopes to take Ruud van Nistelrooy to the World Cup in South Africa.
The 33-year-old striker showed he had not lost of any of his finishing prowess with a fine brace against Stuttgart last weekend on just his second performance for Hamburg.
Today, Bert van Marwijk has revealed that the pair have been in contact and "we had a very constructive phone discussion."
Ruud van Nistelrooy has not played for Holland since retiring from international football for the second time in August 2008 but is still eager to play for the Dutch national team this summer.
