Van Nistelrooy: "Anderlecht is impressive" - Comment (0) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy will play Anderlecht again with Hamburg this Thursday.
“They played a fantastic game against Bilbao. I know this team: it’s never an easy game against them.” "The 1-1 in Spain was quite good. If you beat them with 4-0 at home… that’s impressive,” he says.
"At Anderlecht, everyone attacks and everyone defends. That’s the hardest thing in fotoball. They’ve been in shape all season, we’ll have to be careful.”
The Dutch striker is looking forward to both games. “I’ve never played at the Vanden Stock stadium. It will be two beautiful games between two beautiful teams.”
Van Nistelrooy also got to know Romelu Lukaku and he’s impressed. “I saw him taking off his shirt once. Well’, when I was 16 I didn’t have any muscles yet,” he laughs. “He’s strong and good. He’s from 1993 and already this decisive. We don’t see that a lot.”
Fourth-place Hamburg go into the game against the cellar-dwellers from the capital with a clear mandate. "We want to beat Hertha, says coach Bruno Labbadia. Not that he is taking such an outcome for granted of course: "They're better than their position in the table suggests, and they made some good signings over the winter break.
Labbadia might be forced to make a couple of late calls on the personnel front. With the exception of Marcus Berg, who has the flu, all his players returned from midweek national duty hale and hearty. Goalkeeper Frank Rost, who took a nasty bang on the elbow in Munich last week, is set to return between the sticks, while Marcell Jansen, another flu victim, should be back on duty as well.
Call to arms by Preetz Mladen Petric has had a relatively restful week and is ready to lead from the front. Whether Ruud van Nistelrooy is sufficiently recovered from a niggling thigh problem to make his home debut alongside Petric remains to be seen. With Berg confirmed out of action on Friday afternoon, the Dutch star's appearance could be a timely one for Labbadia.
His counterpart Friedhelm Funkel has a full-strength squad at his disposal, and Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz accordingly expects them to produce the goods: "The team have to show more courage and passion going forwards. I expect the players to push themselves to the limit, and beyond. We're going into the final straight and we have to give everything we can for Hertha BSC and Berlin, to ensure we stay up.
In a similar vein, Funkel added that, "We need a good result and want to make things as hard for Hamburg as possible. With two of their direct competitors at the bottom meeting in Freiburg (see below), victory would give a massive boost to Hertha's battle to avoid the drop, while even a draw could be of no little psychological importance.
Gonzalo Higuain: Ruud Told Me Goals Are Like Ketchup - Comment (0) .
Higuain has recalled advice he received from one of the game's best goalscorers that compares scoring goals to pouring a condiment...
On a fantastic run of form that has seen the goals come in a torrent, Gonzalo Higuain has revealed to Spanish television station La Sexta a piece of advice former Real Madrid player Ruud Van Nistelrooy gave the young Argentine upon arriving at the Bernabeu: goals are like ketchup.
"Ruud told me that goals are like a bottle of kethcup", began El Pipita. "Sometimes they don't come no matter how much you push, but later they all come out in one hit".
Higuain also briefly answered a few questions, but avoided commenting on his possible contract extension with Los Blancos. "I hope an agreement is arrived upon as soon as possible, but this is something that pertains to my family and my agent. I am dedicating myself to playing footbal and that's what I enjoy the most".
The Madrid high scorer also commented on his teammates. On Kaka: "His best is yet to come and it will". On Cristiano Ronald: "It is a stroke of luck to have him at Madrid". On Benzema: "Although we compete for the same position, we are friends". On the Spanish national team: "Clear favourites to win the World Cup".
Finally, Higuain expressed his pride at having scored the goal that gave the victory to his Argentina national team in the midweek friendly against Germany. "The win was very important and I am happy to have scored".
Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss Hamburg's Europa League clash with PSV Eindhoven on Thursday evening due to injury.
The veteran Netherlands striker missed last weekend's goalless draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga with a thigh strain and will not travel to Holland for the second leg of the last 16 tie.
Van Nistelrooy, who joined Hamburg from Real Madrid in January, was desperate to face his former club at the Philips Stadion.
"We want to take any chances," said assistant coach Eddy Sozer. "Ruud is still under a rehabilitation schedule."
Hamburg lead their last 16 tie 1-0 following the first leg in Germany last week.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy Doubtful For PSV Europa League Clash - Comment (0) .
The Dutch attacker is likely to miss Thursday's Europa League match against PSV...
Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV have received some disturbing news on the injury front in the build-up to Thursday's Europa League game against Dutch side PSV.
According to a report in Bild, HSV coach Bruno Labbadia will probably have to make do without highly rated attacker Ruud van Nistelrooy due to muscular trouble.
The Dutch striker sustained the injury during Hamburg's final training session ahead of last weekend's scoreless draw against Eintracht Frankfurt and missed the Bundesliga game due to the knock.
Van Nistelrooy joined HSV from Real Madrid on a free transfer last winter, but the prolific striker has since been struggling to return to full match fitness. He has yet to make his first starting XI appearance for Hamburger SV.
HSV recorded a 1-0 home victory in the first leg of the Europa League clash and face a tough task to protect their narrow lead in Eindhoven.
Bert van Marwijk in contact with Ruud van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
Dutch national team coach Bert van Marwijk has hinted that he hopes to take Ruud van Nistelrooy to the World Cup in South Africa.
The 33-year-old striker showed he had not lost of any of his finishing prowess with a fine brace against Stuttgart last weekend on just his second performance for Hamburg.
Today, Bert van Marwijk has revealed that the pair have been in contact and "we had a very constructive phone discussion."
Ruud van Nistelrooy has not played for Holland since retiring from international football for the second time in August 2008 but is still eager to play for the Dutch national team this summer.
Ruud was watching the match in Hamburg, see the pictures HERE!!
Hamburger SV struggled without the injured Ruud van Nistelrooy, as they stumbled to a 0-0 draw at home to Eintracht Frankfurt, doing their championship hopes little good.
Van Nistelrooy, who was suffering from an ankle injury, had to sit out the visit of Michael Skibbe's improving side, but Hamburg still had a good chance to lead on 25 minutes through Marcus Berg; the Swede however planted his header wide of the target.
Lacking inspiration? Both sides had their chances though before half time, Selim Teber had a strike which fizzed just over for Eintracht, whereas Torun had a chance for Hamburg.
Hamburg have scored more away goals than home goals this season, but they were desperate for a moment of inspiration in the second half to grab the three points.
Chances at both ends However, it was in-form Eintracht Frankfurt who appeared more likely to break the deadlock; on 63 minutes Alexander Meier had a strike from the right of the penalty box which slipped under the body of HSV keeper Frank Rost, the ball clear on the line by Jerome Boateng.
Hamburg's substitute and Burkina Faso international Jonathon Pitroipa also came close on 77 minutes, his strike going just wide after slaloming past Ochs and Schwegler.
Hamburg in Munich next weekend HSV will need a better performance against Bayern next weekend at the Allianz Arena if they are to get the win that their title bid so desperately needs; after leading the Bundesliga in September, they now find themselves nine points behind van Gaal's leaders in fourth position.
Eintracht to climb quietly at the table, and maintain their push for a European spot next season, Skibbe's side in sixth position.
HSV's next opponent is Eintracht Frankfurt. A starting line-up appearance by "Van the Man" is not unlikely, as he could replace Swedish international Marcus Berg. Surely this would cause tremendous excitement and atmosphere in the HSH Nordbank Arena on Saturday 15:30 CET.
The "Hanseaten" are currently ranking in 4th place, with a six point gap to 3rd. Frankfurt have recorded good results recently, having climbed up the standings into 7th place. But the task to prevail in Hamburg is not an easy one for Frankfurt, who have failed to secure a win in Hamburg for over 11 years now. This time around, with the Hamburg crowd having a new superstar to jeer on, the prospects of changing this statistic have become even less likely.
Ruud Anticipates ‘Intense’ Second Leg For Hsv Against PSV - Comment (0) .
HSV face a difficult match in Eindhoven, but Van Nistelrooy believes it is an encounter that the German club can look forward to...
Hamburg striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was pleased to get a cameo appearance under his belt against former employers PSV in the Europa League, though he believes that the tie is evenly balanced enough so that there will be a closely-fought second leg in the Netherlands next week.
A Marcell Jansen penalty was all that separated the two teams in a fractious affair at the Hamburg Arena and van Nistelrooy believes the Bundesliga outfit will be in for a stern examination on February 25, when the second leg is played.
“Overall, we can be happy with 1-0 but the second leg will not be easy,” the Dutchman explained to HSV’s official website after the game. “I know the stadium in Eindhoven and the atmosphere very well; it will be an intense game - and one to which we can look forward to.”
On his own performance, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker was left a little disappointed not to have registered his third goal for his new side. “It was an incredible reception for me and I would like to thank all the spectators,” he said. “Unfortunately I could not pay them back with a goal. I had a good chance, but the goalkeeper performed well.”
Van Nistelrooy will visit the Philips Stadion next Thursday, where he played 67 times in the Eredivisie for PSV, scoring a hugely impressive 62 goals in the process.
I've added some pictures to the gallery, you can see them HERE!!
Hamburger SV will take a slender 1-0 advantage to Holland for the second leg of their tie with PSV Eindhoven, Marcell Jansen's first half goal turning out to be the decisive moment.
Advantage to HSV The first real chance fell to the Dutchmen on 21 minutes, Frank Rost doing well to push over Balazs Dzsudzsak's header. That save was to prove even more important when HSV went ahead just four minutes later; Stanislav Manolev mistimed his challenge on Mladen Petric resulting in a penalty, which was duly converted by Jansen, 1-0 to Hamburg on 25 minutes.
In the second half, the home side continued to search for a second goal; on 50 minutes, David Rozehnal producing a decent save from PSV keeper Andreas Isaksson.
Confident ahead of away leg PSV chances were few and far between, but on 75 minutes Swedish striker Ola Toivonen should have at least made Rost make a save after a quick counter attack.
HSV held out, and will be confident of success in the return leg, especially with ex-PSV striker Ruud van Nistelrooy on board.
There will be one man catching all the headlines when HSV trot out to meet their Dutch opponents on Thursday evening: Ruud van Nistelrooy...

Home Glory Like Real Madrid are aiming to claim the Champions League in their own back yard, Hamburg are targeting Europa League glory at the HSH Nordbank Arena. The Bundesliga outfit have safety negotiated a path to the round of 32, though a stern test awaits them when they tackle PSV at home on Thursday evening.
“Everyone in the city wants us to make the final and we want to shock all the teams across UEFA by competing in the final in our own stadium,” Eljero Elia told UEFA’s official website. “It's all in our own hands, and we'll give everything to make it.
"If we stay 100 per cent fit, then we have a very strong team with a lot of experience. But let's start with the games against PSV. When they come to Hamburg, it's going to be a really great night for me, my family and all the players.”
Elia, of course, turned out for PSV only a matter of months ago, before jumping across the Netherlands-Germany divide to sign for HSV. The Dutchman is not the only home player who is of Eindhoven stock, with Ruud van Nistelrooy having honed his skills at the Philips Stadion, where he scored 62 league goals in just 67 appearances.
Going well in the Bundesliga, placed fourth, the Hamburg outfit are in contention to reach the Champions League next term. For many teams that may take precedence over a good Europa League run, but for HSV this competition is something special this term.
Almost Invincible PSV are a side used to coming out on top this season. Presently topping the Eredivisie by a healthy three-point advantage over Twente, Fred Rutten’s side have also enjoyed success on the continent thus far. When placed in a pool with Copenhagen, Sparta Prague and Cluj, the Dutchmen came out comfortably on top.
The ante has been upped over the Christmas break though, and a real test against a strong Hamburg side awaits.
Quarter-finalists in each of their last five UEFA Cup campaigns, the Eindhoven outfit still have some distance to go to reach that level, though they can afford to approach the midweek game with some degree of confidence. Rutten has forged a strong, confident outfit at the Philips Stadion and is doubtless keen to pit his unit against better opponents.
Incredibly, PSV have yet to taste defeat in either the Eredivisie or the Europa League this term; their only loss since Rutten took over from Dwight Lodeweges last summer is a 3-0 home reverse against Feyenoord in the KNVB Beker.
The Boeren have managed to avoid any substantial tests during this campaign, with HSV arguably their toughest opponents to date. This will be a real test for Rutten’s men.
Two minutes were enough to trigger a new euphoria in Hamburg that could inspire them to do great things this season. Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken the fans' hearts by storm.
There is no doubt about it. Hamburger SV acquired a serious weapon when signing Ruud van Nistelrooy in the winter and although he is not yet fully fit, he's already winning matches for them.
Brace in two minutes He entered the pitch as a substitute 25 minutes from time and after settling in it only took him 120 seconds to score his first two goals for his new club, thus deciding the tie against VfB Stuttgart in HSV's favour (final score 3-1).
"We desperately wanted to win this match and when the score was 1-1 I kept on looking at the clock", van Nistelrooy said after the match. "I knew I needed to do something. I was going to yell to the coach 'Hey, here I am. Sub me in', but he was standing too far away."
Much respected colleague He might be 33 years old and still feeling the aftermath of a long injury break, but he has not lost his killer instinct and has certainly sent some shockwaves through the Bundesliga. What will Hamburger SV be capable of when he is fully fit?
Van Nistelrooy's team-mates speak of him very highly. "He's a great player and it is impossible to imagine the team without him already", striker Mladen Petric said.
"Fun afternoon" HSV have certainly boosted their squad with immense quality by signing the Dutch forward, who has set his sights on a comeback for his country by the time the World Cup comes around. But before that he could help Hamburg win a bit of silverware that they've been craving for so long.
It's certainly a long shot in the Bundesliga, as they are trailing leaders Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern München by nine points. But within the next five weeks, HSV will not only face off with the top duo but also with Schalke 04, the only other team currently ahead of them in the table. There will be plenty of opportunities for van Nistelrooy to prove his worth once again, and of course there is also the UEFA Europa League, where Hamburg are set to play against "Van the Man's" former team PSV Eindhoven. Against Stuttgart it was "a fun afternoon" (quote van Nistelrooy), but it seems like the HSV fans can also look forward to a fun rest of the season.
Ruud van Nistelrooy hailed after two-goal haul for Hamburg - Comment (7) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy knew he had to take matters into his own hands as his first two goals for Hamburg on Saturday secured them an important 3-1 away win over Stuttgart.
The Dutchman entered the field of play in the 65th minute and, little over ten minutes later, he found the back of the net twice to determine the encounter and confirm why the northern Germany club have made him one of the top earners in the Bundesliga.
"For Ruud to score twice straight after coming on is extraordinary,'' said Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia. "But we know how strong he is in the penalty area. And he has proven that impressively.''
Stuttgart coach Christian Gross acknowledged that Van Nistelrooy had been "decisive'' in his first defeat since taking over as coach last December. And Van Nistelrooy was delighted with the start he has made to life with Hamburg.
"These two goals are fantastic for me but above all they are important for the team,'' he said. "It was 1-1 and we really wanted to win this game. Therefore, I kept looking at the clock and when I was brought on, I knew that I had to do something about it. This victory will give us further motivation for the coming weeks.''
The result allowed Hamburg to move within three points of third-placed Schalke and strengthens their challenge for a place in Europe next season.
A quickfire double from Hamburger SV's new signing Ruud van Nistelrooy gave the title contenders a vital 3-1 win away at VfB Stuttgart, inflicting Christian Gross' first defeat as manager.
The home side, who picked up an important win at 1. FC Nürnberg last time out, started brightly, and had a penalty shout turned down on 18 minutes; Pavel Pogrebnyak breaking into the box before being stopped in his tracks by a combination of Aogo and Rozehnal, but the call was waved away by referee Deniz Aytekin.
Rost in impeccable form That proved to be a key turning point, as just five minutes later, Marcus Berg gave Hamburg the lead; Guy Demel setting the Swede free as Stuttgart pressed, Berg taking on the shot early and beating Jens Lehmann to make the score 1-0 to the guests.
It was real end-to-end stuff, and Hamburg keeper Frank Rost had to make two saves not long after his side had taken his lead from Christian Molinaro and his own defender Rozehnal to protect his side's lead. Just before half time, he again excelled himself with saves from Marica and Khedira.
The Ruud van Nistelrooy show However, he was powerless to stop Christian Träsch's equaliser on 55 minutes. The ever-pragmatic Alexander Hleb cutting the ball back from the left to Träsch, who side-footed expertly into the top corner to give the home side a deserved equaliser.
But the key moment in the game was the entrance of Ruud van Nistelrooy on 65 minutes. Thereafter, the game was dominated by one man; on 75 minutes, he grabbed his first goal for his new side to give Hamburg a crucial lead. It was a typical striker's finish as well, as you would expect from van Nistelrooy; Rozehnal's long free-kick was flicked on by Tesche, and the Dutchman was at the back post for a tap-in.
League challenge? Then, two minutes afterwards, to seal his position already as a fan's favourite amongst the HSV faithful, van Nistelrooy grabbed his second to make it 3-1. Berg laid the ball off to the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid man, who side-footed the ball past Lehmann to seal the points.
Hamburg will be hoping that van Nistelrooy can maintain this goalscoring form as they bid to win their first league title since 1983. They find themselves in fourth, nine points off the lead. Stuttgart's recent good form means that despite this defeat, Gross' men are in 10th.
Ruud: I Can Play A Half For HSV Against Stuttgart - Comment (4) .
After only a few seconds of pitch time against Koeln, the former Manchester United ace is looking for an extended period of playing time on Saturday.
Speaking to Voetbal International, Ruud van Nistelrooy has indicated that he feels ready to play at least 45 minutes of Hamburger SV’s game against Stuttgart at the weekend.
The Dutch veteran made his debut in the recent 3-3 draw with Koeln, though he only managed a brief cameo, replacing Mladen Petric in the penultimate minute of play. This weekend he would like to stretch his legs a little more.
“I think I can play a half,” he explained. “After training with HSV my fitness has moved on. I feel stronger.
“Playing in the Bundesliga was a new experience for me. But you see that in recent years more and more top players have headed to Germany and I think there will be more.”
Considering his fleeting debut, the former Manchester United goal-getter joked: “I think that was the shortest appearance of my career!”
Van Nistelrooy’s season has been beset by injury problems, which restricted him to only a few minutes of pitch-time for previous club Real Madrid. True to form, though, the Dutchman scored with his last kick in the Primera Division, striking home the club’s fifth in a 5-0 win over Xerez on September 20.
I Shouldn't Have Retired From International Football - Comment (7) .
The Dutch striker regrets his decision to retire from international football after Euro 2008...
Hamburger SV striker Ruud van Nistelrooy opted to retire from international football after Euro 2008, but the Dutch attacker has now made it clear that he'd be delighted to make a return in Oranje for the World Cup.
"In hindsight, I should never have made the decision to retire from international football after Euro 2008. However, I didn't know I was going to regret my decision this much," said van Nistelrooy to Sportweek.
"I really want to go to the World Cup with Oranje. I'm eager to give my all one last time for the national team. Nevertheless, it's not like I expect head coach Bert van Marwijk to give me a call-up right away.
"I understand that Oranje is not even an option at the moment. I have to get things going at Hamburger SV before thinking about playing at the World Cup.
"The only reason I retired two years ago was because I struggled to keep up with the other players at Real Madrid. I needed all my focus on Real back then. I'm fully match fit again now and I'm looking forward to a comeback."
Van Nistelrooy has made only two official appearances so far this season and consequently doesn't feature in the leading positions of the current Castrol Rankings.
The HSV striker has made it clear that Feyenoord approached him in the last winter transfer window.
Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy opted to leave Real Madrid for Hamburger SV during the winter transfer window, but the former Manchester United attacker has now made it clear that he had plenty of options to choose from.
"Clubs from all over the world approached me this winter. I could have signed for a Mexican team, an American side or a team from the Middle-East," Van Nistelrooy was quoted as saying by Sportweek.
"However, I never even considered such a move. I only wanted to join a 'serious club'. That's also the reason why I snubbed offers from Greece and Turkey. I wanted to move to a big league.
"Even Feyenoord approached me. I got a text message from their technical director, Leo Beenhakker. He wanted to know whether I was interested in a move to Rotterdam. I wasn't, but I felt flattered that he gave it a try."
Van Nistelrooy made his official HSV debut last weekend in the 3-3 away draw against Koeln. The Dutch striker came off the bench in the closing stages of the game, but couldn't help his team to the full three points.

Hsv played a draw against Fc koln. They gave away three points in the last minute. In-form winger Marcell Jansen gave Hamburg just the kind of start they sought, opening the scoring after just two minutes.
Koln fought back and created several chances before Youssef Mohamad headed in Petit's free kick after the half hour mark. The visitors would reclaim their advantage on 36 minutes as Mladen Petric smacked in Jansen's through-ball.
Five minutes later, Petric completed his brace with a penalty kick after Pedro Geromel was deemed to have handled the ball in the penalty area. Down two goals, Koeln stormed back to earn a draw as Milivoje Novakovic (75) and Adil Chihi (88) struck to ensure a share of the spoils.

The Dutch striker has been included in HSV's match squad for the game against Koln...
Hamburger SV coach Bruno Labbadia told the press on Thursday that new signing Ruud van Nistelrooy wouldn't be part of the match squad for Saturday's Bundesliga game against Koeln.
However, the HSV gaffer has now decided to add the former Real Madrid striker to his selection after all. Attackers Tunay Torun and Mladen Petric are both short of full match fitness, prompting Labbadia to add van Nistelrooy to his squad.
It appears unlikely that the 33-year-old will be part of the starting XI against Koeln, but a short appearance coming off the bench in the final minutes of the game could be on the horizon.
Meanwhile, according to a report in Bild, young defender Jerome Boateng is doubtful for Saturday's game. The German international has picked up an ankle injury and could therefore be forced to watch the match from the stands.
Ruud Backs Manutd And Wayne Rooney For Premier Glory - Comment (2) .
Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has put his backing firmly behind his old team in the race for the Premier League title.
And the Dutchman reckons the reason United will be on top come the end of the season is the "genius" of Wayne Rooney.
The former Old Trafford striker, who scored 150 goals in 219 games for the Red Devils, recently joined Hamburg but admits he still keeps a keen eye on the Premier League since leaving for Real Madrid in 2006.
"I watch the game on the television and it is clear that Chelsea and Manchester United will battle for the title this season," he told ESPN.
"They both have teams filled with guys with a winning mentality, but I fancy my old club to come out on top again.
"United do get stronger as a season goes on and they have a genius in Wayne Rooney."
The Dutchman, who fell out of favour at Madrid this season, was linked with a move back to the Premier League this year after a handful of clubs showed an interest in signing him, most notably Tottenham.
But the goalscorer doesn't regret choosing Germany ahead of England.
"Some English sides showed an interest in me and it made me stop and think," he said.
"I love the cut and thrust and the atmosphere of English football and, after five unbelievable years at Old Trafford, I would be crazy not to be tempted by the thought of going back there.
"In the end, nothing materialised and this is life.
"It's a cautious transfer market at the moment - the recession has seen to that. Ultimately, what Hamburg offered me as a sportsman was the most solid and persuasive."
Labbadia: Van Nistelrooy needs time - Comment (1) .
BERLIN — Hamburg's new star signing Ruud van Nistelrooy needs more time to get fit before making his Bundesliga debut, his coach Bruno Labbadia said on Wednesday.
Having spent most of the season on the bench at Real Madrid before signing for Hamburg 10 days ago, the 33-year-old Dutch hot-shot striker is only 60 percent fit, according to Labbadia.
And it looks as though the striker will sit out Hamburg's Bundesliga game at Cologne on Sunday and needs plenty of fitness work after knee surgery in November 2008 and having played just 127 minutes of football for Real this season.
"We would never put someone under a pressure of time to say when they will be fit," Labbadia told SID, a subsidiary of AFP, with his side fifth in the German league table.
"Ruud is still working his way back to fitness and it is only 60 percent.
"Whether or not he is in the squad, we will decide at the end of the week."
Labbadia says the Dutchman needs "a few more weeks" to return to top fitness.
"We don't want to rush him back too early and risk him getting injured," said Labbadia.
A calf injury meant van Nistelrooy only trained with the squad for the first time on Tuesday.
"He has not played for the best part of a year, it is a different story if a player has just been out for a few weeks."
Van Gaal: Ruud couldn't stand Bayern competition - Comment (1) .
Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal insists he did not enter the race to sign Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy because he did not think the player could stand the competition at his club.
Van Nistelrooy has joined Bayern's Bundesliga rivals Hamburg on a free transfer from Real Madrid, where he was struggling for first-team football.
Van Gaal, who coached Van Nistelrooy when he was in charge of the Holland national team, believes the former Manchester United striker would have had a similar problem in Munich to the one he had in Madrid.
"I would not oblige him, because I just had a similar case with Luca Toni, who I let go (to Roma on loan)," Van Gaal wass quoted as saying in the Bild newspaper.
"Toni could not deal with the competitive situation at Bayern. I think Ruud has the same problem. Otherwise he would have stayed in Madrid.''
Van Nistelrooy, whose Hamburg side face Bayern on February 28, took Van Gaal's comments with a pinch of salt.
"Mr Van Gaal is my friend, (he is) a very likeable guy. (He) just wants to irritate me a bit. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon in Munich.''
Yesterday Ruud had a intesive individual training with trainer Markus Günther. Today he had the chance to train for the first time with 'de mannshaft'!

I'm gonna train tuesday with the group, but i don't want to rush anything.
That's better, because i want first to be totally fit again. Its choosing between the hart and sense. When i had followed my heart i would have played against Wolfsburg. But i'm okey at the moment, i think i'm at 80% now. The trainer will only bring me when i'm at 100%.

Mark van bommel: singning ruud is important for bundesliga - Comment (5) .
Mark van Bommel is happy with Ruud's transfer to the bundeliga. The captain of Bayern Munchen thinks that the transfer is important for the dutch football.
'It is good for the bundesliga that a german club signed a big name in football. That will say that the bundesliga is still interesting for topplayers, and with there transfers the level of the bundesliga will become higher.
The midfielder thinks that van nistelrooy still can score. When he's fit, then he's is a amazing striker. He can make HSV stronger.
Ruud trained for the first time outside today. He trained together with Markus Gunther. He was running and he touched the ball already. Afterwards he took some time to sign some autographes for the fans.

RUUD van Nistelrooy has left Real Madrid for SV Hamburg with the aim of making the Dutch World Cup squad through good showings at the German Bundesliga club.
Dutch editorials yesterday agreed that a return of the 33- year-old veteran striker into the Oranje team for the summer World Cup in South Africa could boost the team which has had trouble scoring recently.
“Van Nistelrooy back to Oranje via HSV?” asked de Volkskrant daily.
Van Nistelrooy told Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk after Euro 2008 that he wanted to concentrate on his club football in Madrid.
But he and his manager Rodger Linse have now confirmed that “Van the Man” is keen to return.
“I want to play good matches and want to be successful with the club.
“And then I hope that the national team coach (Bert van Marwijk) contacts me and that I can go to the World Cup,” said van Nistelrooy.
Linse told the Sportweek paper: “Ruud wants to go to the World Cup. That was the main reason why he made the step to join Hamburg.
“He could have stayed at Real but the team is playing without him for half a year. It would have been more difficult there.”
It is widely believed that van Nistelrooy, who has scored 33 goals in 64 caps 1998-2008, could help the team which is yet lift the World Cup trophy.
The Dutch have an abundance of talent but no deadly finisher at the moment.
The team qualified in record time for the World Cup with a perfect qualifying campaign of winning all eight games, but the last three friendlies ended in 0-0 draws.
“It is clear that the current Oranje team badly needs a striker of van Nistelrooy’s calibre,’’ said an editorial in Dutch daily AD.
But AD also said that van Nistelrooy must send a signal to van Marwijk about his willingness to return in the Dutch team.

Ruud Delighted With Hamburger SV Move - Comment (0) .
The Dutch striker is over the moon with his transfer to HSV...
Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been continually being linked with a move away from Real Madrid in the past couple of weeks, and the prolific hitman has now finally left Spain for an adventure at Bundesliga side Hamburger SV.
The former Manchester United star has made it clear that he's absolutely delighted with the transfer and van Nistelrooy is eagerly anticipating his debut.
"I could have joined a Premier League club as well, but I've already had five great seasons in England. I wanted a new challenge and I'm very excited to play in the Bundesliga now," said van Nistelrooy to Bild.
"The conversations with president [Bernd] Hoffmann and head coach Bruno Labbadia made me enthusiastic about HSV, and compatriots Joris Mathijsen and Rafael van der Vaart convinced me that Hamburg is the right club for me.
"I'm not yet fully match fit after my injury. Therefore, I expect to make my official debut in the away game against Koeln on February 6.
"HSV are a big club, also outside of Germany. Moving here is the perfect next step in my career. I want to impress at Hamburg in order to make it into Holland's World Cup squad."

Ruud van Nistelrooy: "My farewell was incredible and I will always be grateful to the Club"
You can see his goodbye here:
Ruud van Nistelrooy had an unforgettable night. The fans at the Bernabeu bid him farewell with a standing ovation before the Real Madrid-Malaga match, after which the player addressed the media in his last press conference in Madrid.
"I will never be able to forget this. It was very emotional. I can only thank everybody for this. Real Madrid will always be with me wherever I go."
"I will now tackle a new footballing and personal experience. I remember fondly the second half of my first season at Real Madrid, during which we made a comeback and won the league title. I know the team will soon win its tenth European Cup and I will celebrate when it does."
"The Club has always treated me magnificently well and made me feel comfortable. I am very grateful to the Club for allowing me to leave in such a wonderful manner."
"I feel fine and I'm anxious to start this new stage in my career. I hope to play in South Africa this summer and achieve great things. I will work hard in the next few months to earn a spot on the national team."
Striker says decision to depart Los Merengues was a tough one
Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy admits his decision to leave Real Madrid has been the most difficult of his career.
The 33-year-old sharp-shooter is moving to German side Hamburg on an 18-month contract, having opted for a switch to the Bundesliga with other options available to him.
The move will bring to an end a mixed stint at Real for Van Nistelrooy, which saw him light up the Bernabeu in his first season with the club, before falling down the pecking order with injuries.
He has revealed that Sunday's Primera Division game against Malaga will be extremely emotional for him, even though he knows he has made the right choice.
"I'm leaving for Hamburg, which is a great opportunity to continue my career, but saying goodbye to Real Madrid is very difficult," he told Marca.
"I don't know if I'm going to hold the tears at the Bernabeu, because the affection that the fans have always given me has been incredible, spectacular.
"I'm going to find it hard not to cry.
"It has been one of the most difficult decisions of my career, but I felt I had to play and Hamburg gave me a great opportunity.
"The coach and president called me and told me I'm going to be very important.
"And I need to play, because I cannot go two years without playing. I only want to play and Hamburg gave me this opportunity.
"I'm very sad to be leaving Madrid, but happy at the same time because I'm not leaving through the back door."
Regular action Hamburg are currently well placed in the top half of the German Bundesliga, and Van Nistelrooy is relishing being involved in the first team once again, which has not been the case in Spain.
"When I started the season I was convinced I was going to play. I felt very good and I knew that I was going to have my moment," he added.
"But I've not been lucky. The injury against Xerez, when I scored, did me a lot of damage. Another month out.
"Still, that goal gave me strength to continue fighting and getting back to play. I had some minutes in the San Siro and in the Copa del Rey, but I had another problem in the calf and it was annoying.
"And now there are only four months to go to the end of the season and I know that I was going to have few opportunities (at Madrid).
"I'm the fifth striker, behind Cristiano (Ronaldo), Pipa (Gonzalo Higuain),
(Karim) Benzema and Raul. You need to be realistic."
Van Nistelrooy: Playing time key to Hamburg move - Comment (0) .
MADRID (AP) -- Ruud van Nistelrooy says he is only moving to Bundesliga club Hamburg from Real Madrid to play more often.
The 33-year-old Dutch striker told Marca newspaper that leaving had been a "painful" decision. He will run a lap of honor Sunday before Madrid's Spanish league match against Malaga.
Van Nistelrooy says he has "written a nice page in the history of Madrid" and that his biggest disappointment was not winning the Champions League.
He scored 60 goals in 89 appearances since arriving from Manchester United in 2006. With the arrival of attacking stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema, he was relegated to the bench this season and has scored only one goal from four games.
Real madrid and Hamburg sv confirmed the transfer! Ruud signed a contract till 30.06.2011. He will get the number 22.

West Ham United bid for van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to leave Real Madrid as offers keep raining in for the services of the once prolific hitman.
The Dutchman who once became a legend at Old Trafford has now become the subject of interest for at least three English clubs.
According to reports from AS, van Nistelrooy's agent, Rodger Linse confirmed that West Ham has made an official bid for the striker. If the reports are to be believed the Hammers will be the third English club after, Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspurs to make an offer for him.
Galatasary are also in the hunt to secure the striker's signature, however, the forward wants to earn a place in the World Cup by proving himself in England.
The striker has fond memories of the League where he found the net 48 times in 68 appearances.
That Ruud will leave Real madrid is almost clear, but to wich club? Just keep an eye on ruudvnistelrooy.com, and i will keep you up to date as much as i can!
Roger lindse is in Madrid at the moment, and is talking with different clubs. Stoke city, West ham united, and Tottenham hotspurs are the most serious ones. It seems that ruud is most interested in Totteham.
West Ham Make Van Nistelrooy Offer - Comment (0) .
The Hammers are the third English club to try and land the Dutchman...
West Ham have reportedly become the latest English club to make an offer for Ruud Van Nistelrooy, as the Dutchman gears towards an exit from the Bernabeu.
According to AS, Van Nistelrooy's agent, Rodger Linse, has confirmed that the Hammers have submitted a bid for the Dutch striker. They would be the third English club to do so, after Tottenham and Stoke City.
Galatassaray are also keen on Van Nistelrooy, but he wants to prove himself in the Premier League ahead of the World Cup.
Van Nistelrooy has made 68 league appearances for Los Merengues, scoring 46 times.
Tottenham want to sign Ruud Van Nistelrooy on loan - Comment (0) .
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed he would be interested in signing Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy on loan.
The Dutchman, 33, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Stoke, has featured only four times for the Spanish side this season.
"If he was available it could be of interest," said Redknapp.
Any deal for the former Manchester United forward is likely to depend on Spurs selling Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Redknapp has made it clear he is willing to release the disenchanted Russian striker, who joined Tottenham from Spartak Moscow for £14m, if the club receive a suitable offer.
With strikers Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch at his disposal, as well as Pavlyuchenko, it is unlikely Redknapp would want an additional front man on the books.
"It's not impossible... if it was right we could be interested," said Redknapp on the possibility of signing Van Nistelrooy.
"It's interesting but it depends what the deal is, he was fantastic in England and a great goal scorer."
After joining Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven for £19m in 2001, the Dutch international scored an impressive 150 goals in 219 games in all competitions during his five years at Old Trafford.
Ruud lined up for move to Tottenham as Redknapp dines with agent - Comment (0) .
RUUD AND LEONTIEN WENT YESTERDAY NIGHT TO A CONCERT OF ALICIA KEYS IN MADRID, YOU CAN SEE HERE A PICTURE!!
Harry Redknapp was last night negotiating a deal to take Ruud van Nistelrooy on a loan deal to Tottenham.
The Spurs boss has moved into pole position in the race to snatch the 33-year-old striker who is no longer wanted at Real Madrid.
He will be struggling to complete the move in time for the 64-cap Holland forward - still an Old Trafford legend after scoring 95 goals in 150 games when he was at Manchester United - to play in Wednesday night’s huge Premier League match at Liverpool.
But Redknapp believes that adding the Dutchman’s experience and firepower will be a turning point in the battle to snatch fourth place - and a spot in next season’s Champions League - away from the Anfield club. Redknapp was in a swanky London restaurant on Monday night (right) with Van Nistelrooy’s agent, Rodger Linse, setting out his visions of the future at White Hart Lane.
Linse, who earlier in the day rejected approaches from Turkish giants Galatasaray, is still exploring other options for his client. But Tottenham’s boss is hoping that his own record of giving other veteran stars a great swansong to their careers will convince Van Nistelrooy to join a high-powered attack of Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane. Spurs ran the rule over Crystal Palace forward Victor Moses again on Saturday, but Manchester City remain favourites to sign the 19-year-old.
Van Nistelrooy enters Tottenham talks - Comment (0) .
Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was locked in talks with Tottenham last night and a deal could be announced as early as today, according to reports.
The Real Madrid forward is available on a free transfer and has been linked with numerous clubs during the transfer window, including Liverpool and Stoke.
Yet the 33-year-old appears to have settled on White Hart Lane as he looks to earn a place in the Holland squad ahead of the World Cup.
His arrival will act as the final nail in the coffin for Russian international Roman Pavlyuchenko, who is now certain to move on.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp may be forced to let others leave the club, as while there will be no transfer fee, van Nistelrooy's wage demands are understood to be high.
Van Nistelrooy snubs Galatasaray move - Comment (0) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been the subject of many transfer rumours these days. His future remains uncertain but his agent insists the former Manchester United striker won't move to Galatasaray.
"I'm getting many phone calls for Ruud, but he doesn't want to play in Turkey," said Van Nistelrooy's agent Rodger Linse. The Real Madrid striker still has two weeks to sign for another club.
Van Nistelrooy has struggled to force his way into the Real side this season and he has also been hampered by injury problems. The 33-year-old hitman has only played one competition match for Los Merengues this season.
Benitez rules out Liverpool move for Ruud van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has ruled out a move for ace Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy and insisted Ryan Babel is staying put. The Merseysiders have been credited with an interest in the Real Madrid striker while fellow Dutchman Babel has spoken about his desire to quit Anfield.
However, after being forced to replay with Reading in the FA Cup, Benitez stressed that, although talks are progressing well on other fronts, the January window will not map out as some had envisaged, News of the World reports.
"I don't want to talk about individual players or names, but we are not trying for Ruud van Nistelrooy, so that will be very difficult to bring him in!" said Benitez.
"We are working hard on getting some players in, and have had some good talks but my priority now is talking about good things with my players," he said.
"And we are not trying to sell Ryan Babel either. Today we were thinking about using him but I wanted to play players who are focused. He has to work harder to get in the team and play if he wants to go to the World Cup. He will have a chance and work hard for Liverpool," Benitez added.
Ruud back to premier league? almost done deal? - Comment (0) .
RUUD VAN NISTELROOY looks certain to complete a shock return to the Premier League with Liverpool in the next few days.
SunSport also understands the striker's Real Madrid and Holland team-mate Rafael van der Vaart may also join the Reds on loan until the end of the season.
It is a dramatic double swoop as under-fire boss Rafa Benitez desperately seeks to turn around a disastrous season.
Former Manchester United idol Van Nistelrooy, 33, is out of contract at the end of the season and is out of favour at Real.
The striker wants to resurrect his international career and go to the World Cup with Holland this summer.
He knows that his first-team chances in Madrid will be limited as he is behind Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Raul in boss Manuel Pellegrini's pecking order.
The only remaining detail to be sorted out is whether Liverpool will pick up the hitman's whopping £140,000-a-week pay package.
Benitez wants Madrid to pay part of his salary but the Spanish giants insist on getting him off their wage bill.
Moving to Anfield gives Van Nistelrooy the chance to get regular first-team action and push his claim for a call-up.
The Dutchman knows he will have to take a pay cut to get a long-term deal at Anfield - but first he will have to convince the Merseyside club he can still produce.
The former Old Trafford hero spent last season sidelined with a knee injury and, although he has returned to full fitness, he is short of match practice.
The Reds will hope veteran Van Nistelrooy can be the credible partner Spanish hitman Fernando Torres has badly needed all season.
Winger Van der Vaart, 26, was told he is surplus to Real's requirements in the summer but he has fought back to earn some playing time and has impressed.
Benitez in bid to sign Ruud on loan from Real Madrid - Comment (0) .
Liverpool are trying to thrash out a deal with Real Madrid to land Ruud van Nistelrooy on a six-month loan next week.
Rafael Benitez’s side, who beat Aston Villa in a snowstorm at Villa Park on Tuesday night, are keen to bring in an experienced striker after seeing their season crumble during Fernando Torres’s frequent stints in the treatment room.
Van Nistelrooy, 33, is keen to head to Anfield to prove his fitness for Holland ahead of next summer’s World Cup. But boss Benitez is worried about the Dutchman’s troubling injury record and has already ruled out paying £3m to take him on a permanent basis.
He is also refusing to agree to Real Madrid’s demands to pay the striker’s £100,000-a-week wages for the rest of the season if he joins on loan.
Trying times: But Rafa Benitez saw his side grab a crucial win at Aston Villa Benitez has limited funds available as a result of his inability to find takers for Dutchman Ryan Babel, Ukraine forward Andriy Voronin, Swiss right back Philipp Degen and Italian left back Andrea Dossena in the transfer window.
Instead, Benitez has asked the Spanish side to pay the majority of Van Nistelrooy’s wages during his time at Anfield.
But Madrid are holding out in the hope that another Premier League club make contact and force an auction for the ex-Manchester United forward.
Babel’s agent, meanwhile, says Liverpool are only interested in straight cash deals for the Dutch winger. Tottenham, Birmingham, Sunderland and Besiktas have all expressed interest but Benitez will not allow him to simply go out on loan.
Babel’s agent Winnie Haatrecht said: ‘It will be difficult for him to focus and remain focused. He will not be loaned.
‘I don’t know if he will be sold, I have had no contact about that. The only thing I know - no loan. There has been no talk about a sale.’ Dossena, meanwhile, is holding talks over a possible switch to Atletico Madri
YOU CAN SEE THE TRAININGSPICTURES HERE, HERE and HERE!!
Real madrid is back in training after a week off. Preparations for Sunday’s match at Osasuna continued on Tuedsay. Garay and Granero were the fresh new faces on the turf, but the best news of the day was the return of Guti, Albiol, Van Nistelrooy and Kaka, all of whom trained on the pitch alongside fitness expert Carlos Lalin.
Guti, Albiol, Van Nistelrooy and Kaka remained on the turf to jog and carry out specific toning exercises, but after one hour outdoors the four returned to the gym to continue with their respective recovery protocols.
legend Ian Rush urges Benitez to snap up Ruud in January - Comment (0) .
Kop legend Ian Rush has told Rafa Benitez to make Ruud Van Nistelrooy Liverpool’s top target in the transfer window.
Former Manchester United striker Van Nistelrooy, 33, is out of favour at Real Madrid and wants a move to safeguard his World Cup place with Holland.
And Rush last night told under-pressure Liverpool boss Benitez the Dutchman would be a perfect short-term signing to share the goalscoring burden at Anfield with Fernando Torres.
Today Liverpool visit Premier League wooden spoonists Portsmouth, desperate for maximum points to rekindle their spluttering season, and Rush said: “Sometimes Torres needs a break, and if Rafa has only one wish in the transfer window, I hope it’s a top-class striker.
“I would love to see him bring in someone like Van Nistelrooy, a proven goalscorer with experience at the highest level.
“World-class predators like him don’t become available every day of the week, and it doesn’t bother me where he’s played before - all it would take is a couple of goals and the supporters would take to him in a flash.”
Liverpool set to win the race for Ruud van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
Liverpool are ready to take Ruud van Nistelrooy on loan for six months when the January transfer window opens.
The former Manchester United striker, who underwent a successful operation to have his tonsils removed yesterday, is desperate to leave Real Madrid to play regular football and be part of Holland's World Cup squad.
Liverpool are reluctant to sign Van Nistelrooy permanently but manager Rafa Benitez knows he needs someone to play alongside Fernando Torres to rekindle the Reds' season.
However, the Bernabeu hierarchy are determined to off load the 33-year-old on a permanent basis and any switch will rely on Benitez persuading the Spanish giants to let him have the striker on loan.
Van Nistelrooy is fit after a long-term knee injury but with Raul, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Higuain and Karim Benzema ahead of him his chances at the Bernabeu are limited.
Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers have also shown an interest in Van Nistelrooy but the striker is believed to favour a move to Anfield.
Ruud van Nistelrooy was diagnosed with recurrent tonsilitis and was given clearance to leave Sanitas la Moraleja Hospital this morning following a successful tonsillectomy.
Real's Van Nistelrooy to Have Tonsils Removed - Comment (0) .
MADRID (Reuters) - Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is to have his tonsils removed after medication failed to cure a recurrent problem.
"When I realised how serious it was I had to sit down and drink a glass of water because it was a huge shock," the Dutchman told the club's website on Monday.
The operation will take place on Tuesday. Real, who are second in La Liga, play their last game before the two-week winter break at home to Real Zaragoza on Saturday.
Real Madrid target Ricardo Carvalho with Ruud van Nistelrooy offered - Comment (0) .
Real Madrid are ready to launch a January bid for Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho.
The Spanish giants are desperate to strengthen after being rocked by injury to defender Pepe, who faces six months out with ruptured ligament in his right knee.
Madrid would be willing to offer Ruud van Nistelrooy in part-exchange, allowing the former Manchester United striker to provide cover at Stamford Bridge while Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou are on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Bernabeu president Florentino Perez is an admirer of Carvalho and tried to sign him from Porto in 2004 before Chelsea blew them out of the water with a bid close to £20million.
The 31-year-old was prepared to leave Chelsea in the summer after a disappointing injury-interrupted season, but he has since established himself as John Terry's first-choice central defensive partner under Carlo Ancelotti. However, Madrid are prepared to test the water after sporting director Jorge Valdano admitted the club were looking at potential signings.
'We appreciate that we have an opportunity to expand our staff in January in order to make the squad more comfortable and we will discuss this,' he said.
'We cannot rule it out but first we will have to look at the market. 'Pepe is irreplaceable. We have the assurance that in him we have a world class player and there is no one like him.'
The Spaniards have also tracked Everton's 18-year-old utility man Jack Rodwell, but they are likely to plump for a more experienced defender this winter.
Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic has also been linked, while Arsenal's Gael Clichy is another on the radar if Madrid decide to strengthen at full back rather than centrally.
Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has ruled out signing Real Madrid forward Ruud van Nistelrooy in the January transfer window.
The 33-year-old former Manchester United striker has slipped down the pecking order at the Bernabeu.
"Ruud, with his career, might not see himself going down from a club like Real Madrid to Birmingham," he said.
The Blues have also been linked with Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko and Slovakia striker Jan Novak.
McLeish believes that the kind of fee Wolfsburg would require if they want to sell Dzeko would be out of City's price range, but Novak has been training at St Andrews over the past few days.
The 24-year-old MFK Kosice player, who would cost about £2m, has impressed the manager.
Roma Cannot Afford Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Ernesto Bronzetti - Comment (0) .
Bronzetti claims Roma will not be able to sign Van Nistelrooy because of tough economic barriers...
Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy is unlikely to join Roma, according to superagent Ernesto Bronzetti.
The Lupi have been linked with a number of target men including Van Nistelrooy, as well as Flamengo's Adriano and Bayern Munich outcast Luca Toni.
Roma were close to Van Nistelrooy, but Bronzetti, who has major links at Los Merengues, claims the Italians will not be able to meet the player's high economic demands.
"The only player that Roma can sign is Toni. As for Van Nistelrooy, the transfer is unlikely as he earns €6million per season. His contract is set to expire and he is looking for a two year deal," the agent told Teleradiostereo.
"Adriano? If he returns to Europe then he will be looking for big wages, but I don't think he will head back to Italy."
On Wednesday, Il Corriere Dello Sport reported Roma were looking to retrench on their wage bill by offloading a number of high earners.
Blackburn rekindle Van Nistelrooy interest - Comment (0) .
Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is set to renew his interest in Real Madrid hitman Ruud van Nistelrooy, with the veteran Dutchman expected to leave the Santiaho Bernabeu in January.
Van Nistelrooy, 33, has been limited to just 23 minutes of action both in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League this season and Los Blancos are believed to be willing to cash in on him during the winter transfer window.
The Holland international has netted an impressive 46 goals in 68 appearances for Real since joining the club in an £11million deal from Manchester United in 2006.
However, injuries have taken their toll over the past 12 months and he has found first-team football hard to come by following the Spanish giants' £170million summer spending spree on Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema.
Meanwhile, with next summer's World Cup finals fast approaching, Van Nistelrooy is desperate for regular first-team football and boost his chances of making Bert van Marwijk's 23-man squad for South Africa.
That has alerted a host of Premier League clubs, including Bolton, Birmingham and Fulham, but it is though 'Big Sam' is leading the chase to bring 'Van the Man' back to England at Ewood Park.
According to reports, Real are prepared to drop their asking price to around £3million, although Van Nistelrooy's agent Barry O'Connor told The Sun: "I can't discuss Ruud's move - it will remain private until such a time as when Real decide."
Van Nistelrooy was a huge success during his five seasons at Old Trafford where he scored 150 goals in 220 appearances for United and broke Denis Law's European scoring record with 38 goals for the club.
Arsenal Will Not Move For Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Arsene Wenger - Comment (0) .
However, Frenchman admits he needs strikers...
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has rubbished reports suggesting that he could make a January swoop for Real Madrid's out-of-favour Dutch striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Los Merengues are eager to offload the veteran hitman and north London has been touted as a likely destination, with Tottenham Hotspur also alleged to be interested.
However, Wenger has waved away those rumours with a chuckle, pointing out that the Gunners faithful hold little affection for the former Manchester United star.
He said in The Mirror: "It would not be the best of starts, bearing in mind our past relationship! You have my number - you can text me all the names you find!"
Arsenal's front line is looking thin with Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner and Eduardo all out injured, so much so that Andrey Arshavin was forced to play centre-forward in Saturday's win over Stoke City.
Van Nistelrooy is just one among many strikers to have been linked with a winter switch to the Emirates, and Wenger admitted that he may have no choice but to delve into the market next month.
"We’re at the beginning of December, if we are in the same situation with injuries in January then I will see," he said.
"But we can’t dream too much of finding a world class player because that’s what is needed to strengthen our team.
"But they also need not to be European cup-tied and who is also free so we must hope Father Christmas is good to us!"
Fenerbahce Join Race For Real Madrid Striker Ruud - Comment (0) .
The veteran hitman could be set for a move to Fener...
Turkish side Fenerbahce are tracking Real Madrid forward Ruud van Nistelrooy, with a view to making a bid, according to reports.
Publication Takvim comments that the big-spending side are in the hunt for the former Manchester United striker, and are hoping to secure his signature during the January transfer window.
The Dutchman has missed the majority of 2009 following a series of serious injuries, and the introduction of Karim Benzema at the Santiago Bernabeu has pushed him down the pecking order.
Liverpool are thought to have expressed an interest in bringing the poacher back to England, and were readying a bid for the prolific frontman, who netted 150 goals during his time at Old Trafford.
However, Fenerbahce coach Christoph Daum is an admirer of the Los Blancos star and is ready to trump any bid from the Reds in order to secure his target.
Van Nistelrooy returned to action earlier in the season but immediately injured his hamstring and is currently suffering another spell on the sidelines.
Ronald de Boer backs Ruud to make successful Premier League return - Comment (0) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy can still be a major force in the Premier League at 33, according to his ex-Holland team-mate Ronald de Boer.
The Dutch striker has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham after almost a year out of the Real Madrid side with a knee injury.
Van Nistelrooy hit 150 goals in 220 games for Manchester United and De Boer said: “A lot depends on how the injury has affected his mobility and his speed. If it’s the same, he can be very good. He’s a guy who will always score goals.”

Real Madrid’s van Nistelrooy to reject Arsenal for Liverpool - Comment (0) .
Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is getting closer to a move to Liverpool after reportedly rejecting advances from Arsenal.
The Dutchman has been told he can leave Madrid after Christmas as he seeks regular first team football to enhance his chances of being selected for Holland’s World Cup squad.
Reds boss Rafael Benitez has identified van Nistelrooy as a player who can improve the teams poor goalscoring record in recent times and the fact the former Manchester United man has basically turned down a move to Emirates Stadium makes it realistic that he could land at Anfield.
It is unclear whether it will be a loan deal or if Benitez will have to raise funds to capture the 33-year old but if it is the latter, he has options to sell in the shape of Andrei Voronin, Ryan Babel and Andrea Dossena.
Drenthe, Van Nistelrooy & Van der Vaart near Real exit - Comment (0) .
Dutch international Royston Drenthe looks set to call time on his career at Real Madrid with reports on Spain's Cadena Ser radio station claiming that AC Milan will snap up the 22-year-old left-footer fro £6m in January. A star of the 2007 UEFA under-21 tournament, the Feyenoord protégé has not lived up to his €14m price-tag in Spain failing to impress Bernd Schuster, Juande Ramos and Manuel Pellegrini. Previously linked with Chelsea, Drenthe could be the fourth Dutchman to leave the Bernabeu in quick succession following Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben’s exits. Rumours still abound on the continent that Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rafael van der Vaart will also depart in January with fears mounting that a lack of first team action will hinder their participation at next year’s World Cup; several Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Liverpool are thought to be monitoring the situation.
Ruud didn't make the squadlist because of a small injury, so he wel not play tonight against Zurich. He trained monday and yesterday with the squad again, so its possible that he's fit for el classico upcoming weekend!
I'VE ADDED ONE NEW PICTURE TO THE GALLERY YOU CAN SEE IT HERE!!
Guti worked out in the gym as preparations for Zurich continue
Preparations for Wednesday's Champions League match against Zurich continued at Valdebebas today, two days after Real Madrid went top on La Liga following their victory against Racing.
Tweny-four players appeared on the turf on Monday for Manuel Pellegrini's morning chat. After a brief discussion, the three goalkeepers went their own way to train with specialist Xabier Mancisidor. The rest of the squad, with the exception of Guti, then ran their warmup jog. Today's agenda also included ball work. The team split into pairs to work on touching, controlling and passing with their heads and feet.
Ruud van Nistelrooy participated without incident after missing out on the weekend squad list and training in the gym on Sunday due to a strained left triceps surae. Guti, meanwhile, continued recovering from a bruised left quadriceps in gym.
Liverpool Eye January Loan Move For Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy on loan in the January transfer window, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The Dutchman has spoken recently of his desire to leave the Bernabeu, unless he can force his way back into the first team, as he wants to play his way back into the Dutch squad for next summer’s World Cup.
Yet with Real now possessing a glittering array of attacking talents, that looks unlikely meaning he could be set for a move in January, with Liverpool reportedly interested in signing the 33-year-old.
The tabloid claims manager Rafael Benitez is keen to add an extra striker to the ranks, and could take the Dutchman on loan until the end of the season.
The report adds that whilst both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are also interested in the Real man, he would prefer a move to Anfield, despite his strong connections with Manchester United.
The Dutch ace enjoyed phenomenal success in his five years Old Trafford, winning a Premier League and FA Cup and bagging 150 goals in 219 for the Red Devils.
Ruud didn't make the squadlist for upcoming match, he has a small injury, you can see his medical status below.
VAN NISTELROOY: Strained left triceps surae. Medical treatment and physiotherapy. Gym work.
[EDIT] He will not be out for long, Pellegrini didn't want to take any risk with him, so thats why he gives him the chance to get fully recoverd. [/EDIT]
Ruud van Nistelrooy visits SOS Children's Villages Spain - Comment (0) .
Dutch football icon Ruud van Nistelrooy visited the SOS children's village El Escorial in Madrid last week, together with his wife Leontien. Van Nistelrooy has been an ambassador for SOS Children's Villages for ten years and was overjoyed to have the time to visit. Van Nistelrooy, who plays for Real Madrid, is currently the second-highest goalscorer in Champions League history and three-time Champions League top scorer.
The children of the SOS children's village El Escorial near Madrid couldn't believe their luck as they stood eye to eye with Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. Van Nistelrooy has been an ambassador for SOS Children's Villages The Netherlands for ten years and was very excited about the visit: "My first introduction to the work of SOS Children's Villages t ook place in 1998 in Bucarest when we played there with the Dutch national youth football team. This time, however, I hadRuud van Nistelrooy time to walk around the village and talk with the children and their SOS mothers. It felt very special to hear their personal, mostly difficult and gripping, stories and see the loving environment they now live in".
Van Nistelrooy was accompanied by his wife Leontien, who is also involved with SOS Children's Villages: "The concept of SOS Children's Villages appeals to us because we believe in the strength that having a family gives children. We know from personal experience what an important role giving children a feeling of belonging and warmth plays in their later lifes. That's something we try to give our own children".
Ruud and Leontien van Nistelrooy had a traditional lunch in the home of one of the SOS families in El Escorial, where they met with little José, who was speechless when the football superstar entered his house. At first he didn't know what to say but after a while he was being chased around the house by Ruud and played a lot with him. After lunch all the children of the village got the opportunity to ask Ruud some questions, and even though he answered the question whether he liked football with a grin, saying "no, not really", he proved the opposite on the soccer field shortly afterwards, shooting penalties with the children.
SOS Children is delighted to count such an accomplished athlete among its friends and supporters and hopes to be able to welcome the charming couple again soon.
Ernesto Bronzetti: Roma Move For Ruud Is Unlikely - Comment (0) .
Italian transfer consultant Ernesto Bronzetti believes that Roma have little chance of luring Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy to the Olimpico during the January transfer window.
The out-of-favour 33-year-old has hinted at a move away from the Bernabeu to boost his chances of making the Netherlands squad for next year’s World Cup finals. Press reports have named Roma as a potential destination.
“It is difficult,” Bronzetti said to Radio Centro Suono Sport.
“He is under contract and we’ll see over the coming days if a deal can be done. [Lupi coach Claudio] Ranieri likes him. But his wages are close to €5 million-per-season and he wants to play where he has more options available to him.
“He is very much in demand in England, but we will know nothing about it until the transfer market opens.
“The coach is not playing him and it is normal that he wants to leave. Roma made an approach on transfer deadline day [last summer], but there were no grounds to make it happen.”
LIVERPOOL, SPURS AND FULHAM ON RED ALERT - Comment (0) .
SPURS, Liverpool and Fulham were put on red alert last night as Ruud van Nistelrooy admitted he would consider a return to the Premier League.
The Dutch striker is out in the cold at Real Madrid and is worried about his World Cup place.
The Spanish giants would consider selling the former Manchester United hitman for £5m in the January transfer market.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp would be interested in the 33-year-old as well as Fulham’s Roy Hodgson, who failed with a bid for Peter Crouch in the summer. Even Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez could consider an offer given his lack of attacking options and injury-ravaged squad.
Van Nistelrooy said: “If I do not get the chance to play in the next couple of weeks then the option to move on in January is very real and open. I need to speak with the new Dutch coach Bert Van Marwijk about returning to the national squad, but I know that is impossible if I do not play at Real Madrid.
‘’If things do not change then I will need to study my situation and consider my options in January. I have not closed anything with any club and I would be interested in going back to England.”
Agent: Ruud van Nistelrooy To Roma On Loan Is Possible - Comment (0) .
In a bid to enhance his credentials for the national side, the former Manchester United goal-getter could swap the Primera Division for Serie A...
Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy could make a winter switch to Roma.
The Dutch poacher recently announced that he may leave the Spanish club during the winter transfer window in order to boost his chances of playing in the 2010 World Cup.
The striker is behind the likes of Raul, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain in the pecking order, and a potential move to Italy has been touted in the press.
Prominent FIFA agent Mino Raiola believes that a loan move to the Stadio Olimpico is a possibility.
"Van Nistelrooy is finding little space at Real. His goal is the World Cup and he wants to persuade the Dutch coach to take him to South Africa. When big teams are involved, I never see problems with transfers," he told Radio Radio.
"If the player agrees, an operation is feasible. There would be a paid salary for only six months. However, I don't know the opinion of [coach Claudio] Ranieri and Roma."
The Giallorossi have been searching for a partner for Francesco Totti in attack due to inconsistent performances from Mirko Vucinic. It is thought that the former Manchester United star could fit the bill.
Ruud van Nistelrooy signals intention to leave Real Madrid - Comment (0) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy has paved the way for a return to the Premier League by admitting that he will leave Real Madrid if he does not play for the Spanish club between now and the January transfer window. The former Manchester United striker believes that he has to get minutes if he is to claim a place in the Holland squad for the World Cup but currently has Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain, Kaká and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of him.
"I want to play," said van Nistelrooy. "I still haven't spoken to [Real Madrid coach] Manuel Pellegrini because I'm still recovering [from a thigh injury] but when I am ready I will speak to him. If I do not get minutes, that will give me a reason to leave in January.
"My intention is to play at the World Cup with Holland. If I do not play, that will be impossible because I need to be able to prove that I can still play at the level I did a few months ago [before the injury]. That said, right now I do not have any club."
Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have shown an interest in the 33-year-old, who scored 95 goals in 150 appearances for United before joining Real in 2006.

One year and one day after having surgery in Colorado, Ruud van Nistelrooy talked to Spanish newspaper Marca about his ambitions.
"Last week I played my first complete match and had no problems whatsoever."
"I will never give up. I am training and improving and will do whatever it takes to play. Tuesday was a big day because I felt perfect after playing. My body responded well, which gives me hope of becoming the player I once was. I woke up the day after the match and everything was great, which is why I think I can only get better."
"Real Madrid comes first. No matter who plays, Madrid must always win. I hope I can take part in that. I am very happy to have won two leagues, to have scored so many goals and to have been this team's striker."
MADRID (Reuters) - Third-tier Alcorcon lost 1-0 to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday but dumped the nine-times European champions out of the King's Cup 4-1 on aggregate.
Real had promised to rectify their embarrassing 4-0 first leg defeat with a stirring fightback at home at the last-32 stage.
Manuel Pellegrini's side though, boasting Raul and Ruud van Nistelrooy up front supported by Gonzalo Higuain and Kaka, created little in front of a near-full house.
Alcorcon operate on a budget of just over one million euros ($1.50 million), around 400 times smaller than Real's.
"Beating Real Madrid is a dream come true and there is a nice party going on right now in the dressing room. I think we deserve it," said coach Juan Antonio Anquela.
"The players made an incredible effort and I want to thank them publicly for that."
The visitors were disciplined and organised and grew in confidence the longer Real laboured.
The hosts threatened briefly at the start of the second half, when they hit the crossbar, but as the chances dried up disgruntled fans started whistling the players and chanting for coach Pellegrini to go.

[EDIT]I'VE ADDED A PICTURE OF YESTERDAY TO THE GALLERY, RUUD ARRIVED AT ESTADIO SANTIAGO BERNABEU, YOU CAN SEE IT HERE!! THE MATCH STARTS AROUND 20.00 tonight, and ruud will probably start in the starting eleven!!
Expected starting eleven: (not confirmed yet) Real Madrid: Dudek; Arbeloa, Pepe, Albiol, Marcelo; Diarra, Lass; Higuaín, Kaká; Raúl y Van Nistelrooy[/EDIT]
Members of Real Madrid's first team expressed just how confident they are in their ability to turn around tomorrow's Copa del Rey tie against Alcorcon.
Higuain & Van Nistelrooy: "We will turn this around for this crest. We owe it to fans."
Manuel Pellegrini has announced the 16-man squad list for Tuesday's Cup match against Alcorcon. Raul Albiol is able to play after serving a one-match suspension against Atletico Madrid, while Sergio Ramos must sit out after being sent off in the derby. Casillas, Benzema, Guti, Drenthe, Xabi Alonso and Metzelder did not make the final cut due to a coaching decision.
SQUAD LIST: Goalkeepers: Dudek, Adan. Defenders: Arbeloa, Pepe, Marcelo, Albiol, Garay. Midfielders: Gago, Diarra, Kaka, Lass, Van der Vaart, Granero. Forwards: Raul, Van Nistelrooy, Higuain
Arsenal are the latest club to show an interest in signing Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy as the Dutch star seems set to leave the Bernabeu in January.
Van Nistelrooy is very much a fringe player for the Galacticos and looks set to leave the Spanish giants for pastures new in the January transfer window. His principle aim is to push for a place in the Dutch national team squad ahead of the World Cup in South Africa next summer.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger rarely enters the transfer market to sign 'experienced' players, but sees van Nistelrooy as a top striker who could bolster their title aspirations this season.
Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of the Dutch striker, as they face competition from North London rivals Tottenham and Italian side AS Roma.
The 33-year-old is keen to return to England after he enjoyed an immensely successful spell with Manchester United during which time he netted 150 goals in just 219 appearances.
Second-placed Real, missing the injured Cristiano Ronaldo, held on for a 3-2 win at city rivals Atletico in the late match despite going down to 10 men in the 66th minute.
Real were cruising after Brazilians Kaka and Marcelo scored first-half goals and Gonzalo Higuain added a third on 64 minutes before Sergio Ramos was shown a straight red for a foul on Sergio Aguero.
Roared on by the home crowd, Diego Forlan pulled a goal back with 11 minutes of regular time left, Aguero added another three minutes later and Iker Casillas produced a superb save to deny the Argentina striker at the death as Real held firm.
Barca have 26 points from 10 matches, Real have 25 and Sevilla, who host Villarreal on Sunday, have 19 in third. Atletico remain in the relegation zone on seven points with just one win.
Pellegrini appeared to be struck by an object thrown from the crowd midway through the second half but played down the incident at the post-match news conference and said he had not suffered any serious injury.
"We had a very good first half and controlled the second until Ramos was sent off," the Chilean said.
"The final minutes were dangerous but did not reflect the superiority we enjoyed throughout the match as a whole.
Manuel Pellegrini has announced the 19-man squad list for Saturday’s derby against Atletico Madrid. Garay has found his way back after missing the last two matches due to tendonitis, as has Metzelder, who last played against Alcorcon. With the Sports Discipline Committee yet to reach a verdict on the red card Albiol received against Getafe, Pellegrini has also called up the Spanish international. Cristiano Ronaldo is unavailable due to injury, while Adan, Drenthe, Guti and Diarra were left off due to a coaching decision.
SQUAD LIST: Goalkeepers: Casillas, Dudek. Defenders: Arbeloa, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Garay, Metzelder, Marcelo, Albiol. Midfielders: Gago, Kaka, Lass, Xabi Alonso, Van der Vaart, Granero. Forwads: Raul, Benzema, Higuain, Van Nistelrooy.
Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy is keeping his options open as his contract runs down.
The former Manchester United forward is out of contract at the Bernabeu at the end of the season and it remains to be seen whether he will be offered a new deal, or if he will move elsewhere.
Tottenham Hotspur came close to signing the Dutch international for just £1million last summer, but manager Harry Redknapp was reportedly put off by the 33-year-old's wage demands.
Van Nistelrooy made 150 appearances for United in a five-year spell in the Premier League, and despite spending nine months on the sidelines last season with a knee problem, could be an attractive option for a number of English clubs.
"In January I can negotiate, see what comes and what the club does," he said in The Sun.
"I'm fully fit now, healthy physically and mentally."
The Dutchman may be forced out of Madrid after the arrival of a number of summer signings, including first-choice striker Karim Benzema, and Real could yet add to their squad in January.

The Dutch striker said his team are not happy with the draw...
Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has said that his side "could have won easily" following their 1-1 draw with Milan at the San Siro in the UEFA Champions League.
The Dutch veteran came on as a substitute for goal scorer Karim Benzema, but could not add to his side's tally to win the game for Los Blancos.
"We are disappointed with the draw. We deserved more, we played very, very well in the first half. We could have won easily. We had many chances coming from the wings," van Nistelrooy told AS.
"The first half is the way we want to play, it is true that in the second we were off the pace."
He also said that a win next time out, against FC Zurich at the Santiago Bernabeu, should be enough to see them through.
"We have to win the next game, and thus pass through to the next round," he added.

Real Madrid owned the match against Milan in San Siro on Tuesday, affixiated the host on several occasions and displayed some of their best football of the season. They controlled possession of the ball as well as scoring opportunities and Benzema knocked in his first goal in Champions League action this year. But the Whites were unable to walk away victorious after the hosts equalized by way of a Ronaldinho penalty. The pace slowed in the second half and the scoreboard didn’t budge, but Real Madrid are one step closer to the Last 16 after the 1-1 draw.
The Whites played an impeccable first half with splendid passing and pressure against an opponent that looked uneasy on its own turf. The Rossoneri relied on the counterattack by capitalizaing on Pato’s speed, but it was Real who created one opportunity after the next. Lass from long range (9’), Higuain from the top of the box (13’), Xabi following a free-kick (16’), Benzema with a against-the-grain strike (19’)… With twenty minutes off the clock Real Madrid led 4-0 in shots on goal.
Milan’s first clear chance came off the boots of Pato, who feinted inside the Madridista box only to be stymied by Casillas. The visitors needed to settle down and were able to do so on 29’, when following a shot by Kaka, the ball deflected off Thiago Silva and Dida cleared. Benzema scooped it up inside the box and curled in a low burner for his first goal in Europe this season (29’).
Just when Madrid hit cruise control, Zambrotta’s cross hit Pepe’s forearm while inside the box and the referee called the penalty. Ronaldinho took the spot kick and put the equalizer on the board with a shot into the corner (34’). Two minutes later, Pato had a goal disallowed after being called for a hand-ball. By halftime, the best way to sum up the first 45 minutes was 16 shots for Real Madrid and only three for Milan.
The second half saw more of the same from Milan and a less intense Madrid side. Both teams had opportunities to take the lead, although the Whites still controlled possession. Ambrosini’s shot sailed wide following a Pirlo cross (59’), Kaka had a go from outside the box (69’), Higuain was unable to meet a center put in by Arbeloa (71’) and Casillas trapped a cross that Borrierllo attempted to get a foot to. Raul came on for Higuian (76’) and Benzema was replaced by Van Nistelrooy (83’).
Milan had two close encounters down the home stretch. Inzaghi sent a Pato cross over the woodwork and on 84’ the Italian forward sent another ball into the stands. Real Madrid responded with a shot by Marcelo that Dida got a fingertip to and a strike by Raul, who was centimeters away from giving the Whites the lead. The final score saw each team earn a point despite overall superiority by the Madridistas.
Manuel Pellegrini released his 20-man squad list for Tuesday's Champions League match against Milan at San Siro. Drenthe will make the trip to Italy, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Garay will stay in the Spanish capital due to injury and Guti and Metzelder because of a coaching deicision.

Ten man Real topples Getafe as Higuain nets twice.
Madrid, Spain (Sports Network) - Gonzalo Higuain scored twice in the second half to help 10-man Real Madrid earn a 2-0 win over Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
Real suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to third-division side Alcorcon in the Copa del Rey in midweek, and after defender Raul Albiol was hit with a straight red card in the 27th minute, it looked like another miserable day for the Spanish giants.
However, the home side put together a great response and Higuain provided the goals, which came three minutes apart early in the second half.
The result leaves Real just one point back of leaders Barcelona after they were denied a win on the final play of the game against Osasuna on Saturday with Gerard Pique scoring an own goal to leave his team with a 1-1 draw.
Neither side really had an advantage through the first 25 minutes, but the game changed dramatically in the 27th minute when Roberto Soldado and Albiol were battling for a long ball that was played over the top.
The Getafe striker went down just outside the area, and after the referee awarded a free kick he hit Albiol with a straight red card much to the surprise of the Real players.
It was a controversial sending off, but it sparked Real and they were the better side over the rest of the match despite playing with 10 men.
Karim Benzema had the best chance to open the scoring in the first half, but he was denied by the feet of Osasuna goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.
Getafe threatened just before halftime when Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas needed to make a save at full stretch to keep out Soldado's header, but the second half belonged to the hosts.
A couple of near misses just after the restart was followed by the first goal of the match, which came in the 53rd minute.
Marcelo's long ball was brought down off the chest of Higuain and he then hammered a shot into the upper corner of the net that gave Ustari no chance.
It took just three minutes for Real to double its lead as Benzema's through ball put Higuain into the box and he slotted his shot calmly past the keeper, while he was denied a hat trick a few minutes later by the post.

Real Madrid suffered an astonishing 4-0 defeat at third-tier side Alcorcon in the King's Cup on Tuesday, humiliated in the first leg by a club with a budget more than 400 times smaller than the La Liga giants.
Real were missing their two most expensive signings, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, as well as several other key players, but were undone by a club with a €1.1 million ($1.6 million) annual budget compared to Real's €420 million.
It was the third defeat in five matches for Manuel Pellegrini's side and piled more pressure on the Chilean coach after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Sporting Gijon and last week's 3-2 home defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League.
A fired-up Alcorcon, who play in the same league as Real's youth team Castilla, laid siege to the visitors' goal in the frantic early stages, forcing Jerzy Dudek into a couple of smart saves with shots from distance.
Former Real youth player Borja Gomez gave Alcorcon a shock lead in the 16th minute when he cut in from the right and curled a precise shot into the bottom left corner.
Spain defender Alvaro Arbeloa inexplicably clipped the ball into his own net six minutes later before Fernando Bejar headed against Dudek's leftpost.
Ernesto Gomez made it three five minutes before the break, sidefooting home Diego Cascon's cross from the right, and Borja pounced on a loose ball to make it four in the 52nd minute.
Pellegrini replaced Raul with Ruud van Nistelrooy with just under 20 minutes left as Real searched desperately for a goal. Alcorcon keeper Juanma palmed the Dutchman's shot on to a post with four minutes remaining but Real were unable to find a goal ahead of the the second leg at the Bernabeu in two weeks.

Roma has again Interest In Real Madrid Striker - Comment (0) .
The Giallorossi could open the books for a new hitman in light of Totti's injury woes...
Roma have begun a striker search in the face of Francesco Totti's on-going knee problem.
According to Puntosport.net, Lupi president Rosella Sensi is discussing plans with director Daniele Prade for a new hitman, and they have looked at three possible candidates. Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy is on top of the list. He is now seen as peripheral to requirements at the Bernabeu, and a winter move may take off. The Dutchman was close to joining Roma in the summer, but the deal fizzled out. Another try is expected.
Second on the list is Milan's Marco Borriello. He has been constantly injured, but now seems to have recovered. With Alexandre Pato, Ronaldinho, and Filippo Inzaghi ahead of him in the pecking order, he too is a Lupi candidate. Fluminense ace Fred, who has European experience having played for Lyon in France, is also being mooted.
Earlier reports suggested Totti may need knee surgery, fuelling speculation that coach Claudio Ranieri has asked for a new hitman. Despite the voices, Roma have not confirmed their winter transfer market plans.

"The coach needs me to be in optimum form and I will be"
Ruud van Nistelrooy was injured three weeks ago against Xerez. The striker told AS he will train with the rest of the squad this week and that he will soon reach optimum form again.
How do you feel? I feel fine now. Three weeks have gone by since I was injured and I've started to jog again. I will train with the rest of the team this week and I will be available for whenever the coach needs me. We'll see when my time comes.
You've been unlucky. You were injured when you scored against Xerez... I felt bad for two or three days. I was very disappointed, but I soon recovered and got strength to start all over again. I have a positive mentality. I stopped playing in November last year and this season I will start playing again in November. I don't want to work with doctors any more; I've seen hem enough these past few months! I hope I don't see them again in a very long time.
What's been the hardest thing for you these past nine months? I had to work many hours a day. I couldn't do anything else. I had to lift weights, work out on the bicycle, swim in the pool. I had to in order to keep fit. Nine months is a very long time...
What did your team-mates say to you during all that time? The best thing was that I trained at Valdebebas. I didn't want to leave the squad. They saw me every day. They saw me with crutches, then walking on my own, then running with the ball... They'd come up to me and ask me how I felt. The better I got the more they would say things like "Carry on Ruud. You can make it!" They encouraged me a lot.
Do you think you can reach optimum form again? My knee is fine. I have a different injury now. Before I was injured again Pellegrini told me to train hard and to adapt to the rest of the team. My goal is to play. The coach needs me to be in optimum form and I will be. Once I get there he'll know he'll have an extra striker.
The crowd went mad when you made your return on 24 August in the Bernabeu Trophy... Look, I still get the goosebumpos when I remember. I didn't expect it would be like that. I just wanted to warm up well and give a good performance. I loved the crowd's reaction. The fans' reaction to my injury was astonishing. I keep every single letter I received.
Do you think Barcelona and Real Madrid will be the only two teams that will fight for the league title this year? I don't because Sevilla are also very strong right now both in La Liga and in the Champions League. I think they can achieve something important despite their defeat against Deportivo. They won 2-1 against us. We have to think of ourselves and win as many games as we can. That should be enough.
How many goals will you score from assists from Kaka this year? Many I hope. This is a first rate squad. We'll have many chances in attack with this system based on having two strikers, Cristiano Ronaldo once he is recovered, Kaka moving freely, full backs that run back and forth, and two midfielders like Alonso and Lass.
Will the team always score? That's what it feels like because we have great quality in attack.
What do you think of Benzema? He's got it all to become a great striker: touch, technique with both feet and speed. I think he is a brilliant signing for the price he cost. He's been somewhat overshadowed by the signings of Cristiano and Kaka, but I insist; he'll be one of the greats.
What about Higuain? He's improved a lot and not just at scoring goals. It's important for us that he stays focused because he always helps us when he plays. I also think Gago and Marcelo are some of the best players in the world of their age.
Have you spoken to Florentino Perez? I met him the day of the match against Espanyol, outside the hotel. The first time I saw him was in Barcelona. He came to see me after I was injured against Xerez. We talked and he encouraged me. That's been very important to me.
We haven't talked about the Champions League final at the Bernabeu yet. Everyone knows that's our main goal this season. We shouldn't talk too much about it. We have to play many games before the time comes and I hope we reach the final.
Ruud trained for the first time outside again yesterday!! I've added a picture to the gallery you can see it HERE!! It will take a while to become fit again, but he took a big step in his recovery!!
Ruud Needs 35 Games With Real Madrid To Secure Contract Extension - Comment (0) .
Raul and Guti must meet similar quotas...
Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy must play 35 times for Los Blancos this season if he is to be offered an extension for next season, according to AS.
The veteran Dutch striker, who has scored 64 times in 94 games for Madrid since signing from Manchester United in 2006, has only played for Los Merengues once so far this season, coming off the bench to score in the 5-0 thrashing of Xerez last month.
A knee injury sustained in November 2008 ruled the striker out for a total often months before he suffered a calf strain in the Bernabeu blitz against newly promoted Xerez.
Now 33-years-old, it is unlikely that van Nistelrooy will manage 35 games for Los Blancos, given that it is a feat he only managed in his first season at the club, without the likes of Karim Benzema vying for a starting place.
Life-long Blancos, Raul and Guti will also be offered extensions beyond the 2010/11 season if they manage to take part in a minimum of 30 official games for the club.
Real Madrid Striker Van Nistelrooy Out For Six Weeks - Comment (0) .
The Holland international's run of bad luck continued at the weekend...
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been told that he faces another six weeks on the sidelines after picking up a knock during his comeback game on Sunday evening against Xerez.
The luckless Dutchman received a standing ovation as he entered the match after a ten-month injury lay-off and then reminded everyone of his talent with a goal.
That goal came with a cost though as Van Nistelrooy suffered another blow whilst beating the keeper with the strike late on in the 5-0 victory.
Tests on Monday morning have confirmed that the former Manchester United striker has a slight muscle tear at the back of his left leg and will be out of action for five or six weeks at least, according to AS.
On the flip side, Xabi Alonso returned to training with the first-team squad at Valdebebas having missed the weekend encounter after being injured during Champions League duty in midweek.
The midfield playmaker was able to run, but had to continue his recovery in the club gymnasium and will not be given the green light to play against Villarreal.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy returned to official action for the first time in about ten months and did what he knows best: score. But it wasn't all good news after seeing the Dutchman grip his left quad after the shot. The club's medical staff will assess the injury on Monday and determine just how severe it is.
“I am okay, but I got hurt while scoring. I dreamed of this return; to score and provide an assist. I am overwhelmed by the fans' support. I will have an MRI tomorrow and hope it isn't anything serious. I worked very hard to return and everything has gone well. Let's see how my quad is holding up. We aren't happy with the way we played, but it was a good match. We can improve a lot.”
Real madrid won at home with 5-0 from Xerez. 2 goals of Ronaldo, 1 of guti, 1 of Benzema and 1 of Ruud. Ruud came in for 10 minutes and gave a assist for the goal of benzema and scored the 5-0. I've added the pictures to the gallery! You can see them HERE!! And you can see the goal below:

Madrid survived a second half scare in Zurich to get their Champions League campaign off to the right start...
Real Madrid escaped from the Letzigrund with three points largely thanks to two goalkeeping errors after FC Zurich mounted a spirited second half comeback in an enthralling UEFA Champions League encounter.
Two goals in the dying minutes from Cristiano Ronaldo and substitute Guti put the gloss on a far from convincing second half performance by Los Blancos but the Spanish giants didn't have it all their own way, picking up six yellow cards in the game.
Manuel Pellegrini's men lead 3-0 at the break but were made to sweat as the home side produced an excellent second half to give Madrid a scare. The Chilean coach will have to sweat over the fitness of key midfielder Xabi Alonso, who hobbled off after going over on his ankle after 55 minutes.
The Swiss outfit certainly didn't seem overawed in the early stages and enjoyed some brief spells of possession in the opening quarter of an hour while also testing Real's resolve with some stern physical challenges.
The home side found space in front of goal, but striker Eric Hassli was wasteful, lacking in ideas where a final ball could have proved telling. An early corner for Zurich almost gave them a shock lead but Iker Casillas was alert, getting down to stop Hannu Tihinen's clever back heel.
Madrid gradually enjoyed more possession and pressed the home side further and further back and Xabi Alonso began to find the movement of Ronaldo and Kaka with some accurate passes.
Then on 27 minutes Cristiano struck gold with a thunderous free-kick from 25 yards that whistled past Johnny Leoni in the Zurich goal. The 'keeper should really have done better as the effort was well within his reach.
Tonight is the champions league clash against Zurich, i don't know if Ruud will play some minutes, we just have to wait and see! I've added two pictures of the training of yesterday! You can see them HERE!!
Just like i promised here is the episode of the intervieuw yesterday, just skip to 34.31 minutes, and the ruud part starts!!

Translation: He talks about his comeback, that he wants to come back. But that he understands that if he's not good enough that he has to leave. He wants to wait till january, when he isn't on toplevel yet, and he can't play that often, then he will leave. One of his biggest dreams is winning a big trophy, with his club or the dutch national team. So he wants to make him self available again for the dutch national team but only when he's good enough!

Ruud Can't Wait For Cristiano Ronaldo Reunion At Real - Comment (0) .
I'VE ADDED SOME PICTURES OF LAST MATCH.. YOU CAN SEE THEM HERE!!
The Dutch star spoke exclusively to Goal.com...
The former Manchester United hitman made his appearance on the bench for Real Madrid for the first time in almost one year after suffering a knee injury last November. While Ruud van Nistelrooy didn't come on, he did speak to Goal.com's Ashish Sharma after his side's 3-0 win over Espanyol...
One of the biggest cheers that rang out from a tiny corner of Espanyol's spanking new Cornella-El Prat stadium came from a pocketful of Real Madrid fans. Ruud van Nistelrooy had just raced off the bench to join Raul and Royston Drenthe who were already warming up on the touchline.
Since that fateful knee injury last year, Ruud is walking back into a completely different Madrid side, with Florentino Perez now at the helm at the Santiago Bernabeu boardroom.
"Wow... there have been massive changes in that time," he tells me as though he still can't believe what has been happening.
"And it's not only throughout the squad but throughout the coaching staff and the management within the club. In fact, it's a completely new club who are heading for a great direction and I hope to be an important part of that future."
The 33-year-old Dutchman who has been plagued by knee injuries throughout an illustrious career, is clearly excited at the possibility of renewing his connection with Cristiano Ronaldo. Van Nistelrooy saw Ronaldo develop through the ranks at Old Trafford to become a star player for the Premier League champions.
"Cristiano was an important player at United and I am really looking forward to playing with him here again. But look, along with him, there are so many other great players in this squad, and I think this will be our strength, because we can put two great sides out on the field, what with all the games we have in a short season. I mean every three or four days there is a game so hopefully we can rotate and keep fresh."
Van Nistelrooy was never in doubt that he would recover from this latest set back in his career, and feels that he is not too far away from being able to contribute to the team once again.
"I think I need a couple of months to be fully to my best but I feel good. I made my comeback in a friendly a couple of weeks ago and have now been training with the first team for about a month. But this is the first time that I have been with the team so it's step by step and I hope to get some minutes in the near future.
"I think that's the important thing, to get playing again and from there on see what happens. My goal is to be an important part of this club as it was before and hopefully I can achieve that now and as I say in a couple of months I hope to be playing in the team regularly and to be in good shape again."
The striker is particularly also looking forward to the Champions League. The Dutchman is the second highest scorer in the competition on sixty goals and can't wait to increase that tally.
And in typical Ruud fashion, when asked if he hopes to make his Champions League appearance against Milan next month, he looked shocked.
"Why make me wait till then? No, I hope to be in the team on Tuesday when we take on Zurich," he smiled.
"I hope to be in the team in every game we play, but that's the thing that I need to prove."
RUUD DID NOT PLAY THIS MATCH, GUTI CHEERED WITH RUUD AND GARAY AFTER HE SCORED THE SECOND GOAL, I'VE ADDED TWO PICTURES OF THAT.. YOU CAN SEE THEM HERE!!
Real Madrid had their first chance on goal just six minutes into the game, when a corner from the right was targeted at the near post, Albiol headed the ball into the six-yard box and Metzelder, from no more than two yards out, could not connect to the ball cleanly and sent it over the bar.
The hosts responded in the 19th minute, when Nakamura whipped in a free-kick from the right, Luis Garcia headed it down to Moises but his shot from point blank range was denied by Casillas with his feet.
Espanyol were dominant at this stage, and looked again for the goal seven minutes later as Joan Verdu recovered the ball in Real Madrid's own half before firing from distance but he saw his effort going over the bar.
On 31 minutes, Espanyol created more danger as Ivan Alonso crossed to the far post for Tamudo. The striker still dived to get his head to it but he arrived too late.
The Periquitos had another great chance on 35 minutes, when Luis Garcia clipped the ball into the area, Casillas left his post but could not get to the ball and Arbeloa cleared the ball from danger just when Ivan Alonso was about to score.
Real Madrid responded right after and almost broke the deadlock in the 38th minute. Guti sent a high ball to Kaka, who chested it down to compatriot Marcelo but the left-back's shot was denied by Kameni's right arm.
But the Merengues would find the goal in the following attack, when Granero played a one-two with Kaka before sending the ball into the bottom right hand corner of Espanyol's goal.
Espanyol made two changes at the break, replacing Ivan Alonso and Nakamura with Coro and De la Pena, hoping they would freshen up the attack, but there was little sign of danger near Casillas' goal in the first minutes.
There were plenty of spaces for both teams to play on, but the truth was that the second half was having anything but the intensity of the first period.
Cristiano Ronaldo was brought on in the 66th minute and showed his intent just two minutes later, when his free-kick effort went into Kameni's hands after a slight deflection in the wall.
Real Madrid doubled their lead on 76 minutes, when Kaka cut inside near the byline before feeding the ball back for Guti, who was free in the penalty area and made no mistake with a low finish.
But there was still time for more and Real Madrid would score a third in added time as Guti played Ronaldo through down the right and the Portuguese star concluded with a cheeky finish between the legs of Kameni.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy: I Could Join Roma - Comment (0) .
The former PSV and Manchester United hitman is reconsidering a move to the Eternal City...
Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy admits he could move to Roma in January in order to re-ignite his career, if Los Merengues continue to leave him on the bench.
According to Il Corriere Dello Sport, the Dutchman was on the verge of joining the Giallorossi on the last day of the season as the club made a final dash, but he decided to stay in Spain.
With Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema likely to keep him on the bench, the striker is looking at a solution.
"If Real Madrid continue to leave me out then I will look around me. Roma wanted me, and they could be the solution for January," Van Nistelrooy told Il Corriere Dello Sport.
Real president Florentino Perez called Lupi president Rosella Sensi to remind her of Van Nistelrooy.
The Italians are keen on adding a striker to their ranks and the Dutchman could be the solution. Former coach Luciano Spalletti was keen on signing a hitman, but never got one, and voices in the capital claim that this was one of the reasons behind his exit.
Report: Real Madrid's To Return Against FC Zurich - Comment (0) .
The Dutch hitman is set for his competitive return...
Ruud van Nistelrooy could make his long awaited return to competitive football against FC Zurich.
The Dutch forward has been out of action for 306 days, since picking up an injury in Real Madrid's 2-0 loss at home to Juventus in the Champions League last season.
According to AS, van Nistelrooy will sit out this weekend's trip to Espanyol, but is all set to be named in the squad for the match against Zurich in the Champions League opener on September 15. He has already played with the senior team this season when he featured for 14 minutes in against Rosenborg in the Trofeo Santiago Bernabeu in pre-season.
Should van Nistelrooy be included in the squad, Real Madrid will have the two highest scorers in Europe's premier club competition for the game; the Dutchman has 60 goals, while Raul has 64.
Ruud: I Rejected Roma Offer To Stay At Real Madrid - Comment (0) .
Roma missed out on adding to their front line...
Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed that he turned down an offer to join AS Roma in the summer transfer window because their offer was not good enough.
The Dutch striker was linked with a move away from Real Madrid as president Florentino Perez implemented his second chapter of los Galacticos at the Bernabeu.
Having just recovered from an injury that saw him miss most of last season however, van Nistelrooy has always maintained that he wanted to shine again for the Spanish giants.
Tottenham Hotspur were strongly linked with the striker in August, but it was Roma who put an offer on the table to try and tempt him to join them in Serie A.
"Roma have tried to sign me, but I felt it was not for me, I was not enchanted by their proposal," van Nistelrooy told Spanish reporters.
"Madrid has left me to choose independently and I preferred to stay, although I know it will not be easy to find place in the team."
Ruud: "I feel three years younger than before the injury" - Comment (0) .
You can see the Marca frontpage HERE, And the trainingspictures of today can you find HERE. Real madrid played without the internationals a practice game against castilla, real madrid won. 6-2 higuain (3), Ruud (1) and Raul (1).
Ruud van Nistelrooy has recovered from an injury which prevented him from playing during the last months. He talked about his recovery process and the new squad in an interview to Marca.
Do you feel reborn after recovering from the injury? Yes, physically I’m in a better shape now than I was before. It was a complicated injury and the doctors said I could continue playing at high level for three more years if the recovery was perfect. It has been a long but successful process and now I’m a new person. I’m happy. I just need to grasp the pace of the game once more by playing matches. I’m training hard and playing a few minutes in games, which is very important for me.
Are you a couple of years younger now? Yes, I am three years younger. I’ve always cared about my health and now I feel much better than before. The doctors told me I could play three more years and that once I retired I wouldn’t feel any pain. Before the injury I didn’t feel well. I couldn’t give 100%.
Why did you decide to stay at Real Madrid? I have confidence in myself. I know I can play at the highest level. The reason I worked so many hours during such a long recovery period is to keep playing for Real Madrid. It would have been easier to sign for a minor club, but I’m not going to leave Real Madrid at this point. There are many opportunities for playing. I can start from the bench or be in the initial line-up, always playing minutes. I want to find my place here. If I had left the Club I would have never known what could have happened and I couldn’t have forgiven myself for that. I want to be an important piece of the squad. I’m going to give everything I’ve got. But if it doesn’t turn out well I’ll look elsewhere.
What do you think about the new signings? Many things have changed. There’s a new team, a new president and a new coach. It’s an exciting new era. The quality of the squad is amazing. We can have two top-level teams at the same time.
Is this the best squad you’ve been in? Yes. During my first year at Manchester United we had Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, Cole, York… It was a very good squad but comprised of only 13 or 14 players. Here we have two full teams, and that rises the level of the squad and of the trainings sessions.
What can Cristiano Ronaldo add to Real Madrid? He’s going to do big things here. He’ll keep making progress. He is only 24 but has a lot of experience. I think his pace and technique will improve La Liga. And he can score goals. I think he has six or seven great years in front him.
And Kaka? Kaka is wonderful. But I wouldn’t compare with him Zidane. Their styles are different. Zizou was pure art while Kaka is very technical, functional and practical. He is very effective. He can score and he is quick. In fact, he has everything.
Can you play with Benzema? Sure, why not? I’m a centre forward. I don’t fall back to midfield to receive the ball. I play near the goal while Benzema, Raul and Higuain are second strikers. I stay up front and hammer them in. They move around the pitch. Everyone knows my game.
Is the Champions League the main goal of the season? Yes, but I believe the squad can fight fro every title at stake during the next years. It must be one of our goals because the final is at the Bernabeu. We have to give everything to win it.

About him staying at madrid: He said that the club couldn't make much out of him leaving, so that was one of the reasons why he could stay. They want to see how he plays when he's fit, and if he's able to come on high level again. When he can they want to keep him!!

Meet the squad that will fight all the titles at stake this season
The transfer window is now closed. Real Madrid have inscribed 23 players to try to win the three titles at stake: La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. The team benefits from the presence of many international players; 19 men of the squad have played for their national teams.
The team can boast of having Ballon d’Or winners Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo on its ranks, as well as 2008 Euro winners Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso and Albiol.
Real Madrid have come up with a competitive, balanced and versatile squad. Clear examples of this are Arbeloa and Guti, who can play in any position in defence and midfield, respectively.
Pellegrini has two men available per position, but he can also use players from Castilla, such as Adan, Velayos and Tebar. The latter even enjoyed some minutes of playing time during the preseason.
Miguel Torres left the team last night at 23.00 to join Getafe.
The players that have been inscribed are: Goalkeepers: Casillas and Dudek; Defenders: Sergio Ramos, Arbeloa, Albiol, Pepe, Garay, Metzelder, Marcelo and Drenthe; Midfielders: Lass, Gago, Xabi Alonso, Diarra, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Guti, Van der Vaart and Granero; Forwards: Raul, Higuain, Benzema and Van Nistelrooy.
Roma Fails To Capture Real Madrid's Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
Ruud Van Nistelrooy will remain with Real Madrid after failing to sign a deal with Roma...
Real Madrid striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy was close to signing a deal with Roma, but it has fallen through at the last minute, according to both Sportmediaset and Corriere Dello Sport.
The former Manchester United bomber's services are no longer required at the Meregues, and a move to the Italian capital would have satisfied Roma coach Luciano Spalletti's requirements up forward.
However the underfire coach will have to remain content with the reinforcements of forward Fabio Zamblera from Newcastle, and goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont, who joined the Giallorossi from Dinamo Bucharest last night.
Usain never made a secret about his admiration for Ruud:
Bolt: I support Manchester United in the English League. I am now a fan of Real Madrid. (Ruud) van Nistelrooy has always been one of my favorites," said Bolt afterwards as he met reporters at the Bernabeu stadium, an arena which clearly impressed him.
Real Madrid 3-2 Deportivo La Coruña - Comment (0) .
Real Madrid defeated Deportivo 3-2 in their first game in the 2009/10 edition of La Liga. The visiting side played well in defence and made good use of their chances in attack, but failed to overcome the Madridistas, Raul, Cristiano and Lass scored for the Whites. Usain Bolt kicked-off the match.
Looking to keep possession and give spectacle, Real Madrid dominated the match from the start. Kaka had a chance on goal just one minute into the game. All Deportivo could do was keep their defensive line organised to try to thwart the Whites' bouts in attack. Their attack basically consisted on isolated plays and set pieces.
After a few minutes of complete local dominance, the game came to a standstill, seeing how Real Madrid had trouble trying to move past Deportivo's defence. All this changed when Kaka received a ball down the right wing on the 25-minute mark. The Brazilian ventured towards the goal diagonally and passed the ball to Benzema between defenders. The Frenchman hit the post, but Raul picked up the deflection and scored the opener. Four minutes later, Riki netted a header for Deportivo in a set piece.
Real Madrid didn't give up and managed to end the first half in the lead again thanks to a penalty awarded to Raul and scored by Ronaldo. The Portuguese star sent the ball in grazing the left post (33'). Cristiano had a shot that was slightly off target after half-time and Deportivo scored another equalizer through Valeron, who scored from outside the box after receiving a great pass from Guardado. The Northern side proved threatening in counterattacks and Valeron failed to score again from a great chance.
Lass pulled rank in the 58th minute and, after dribbling past an opponent, netted a terrific shot grazing the left post from outside the box. Pellegrini's men dominated the fixture from the on and earned an important first victory.

I've added some trainingspictures od today and yesterday!! You can see them HERE!! enjoy!!
Ruud van Nistelrooy is once again being touted with a move to the Lilywhites...
Tottenham Hotspur could reignite their interest in signing Ruud van Nistelrooy from Real Madrid if they can find a buyer for the unsettled Roman Pavlyuchenko, according to a report.
The unlikely move has been touted by the Daily Mail as a possibility after the north London club received a transfer request from their Russian striker this week.
Manager Harry Redknapp has been keen to start the season with four strikers and felt that things had been settled after he signed Peter Crouch and sold Darren Bent.
Pavlyuchenko has been unimpressed with his lack of opportunities in the opening three matches however and now wants to leave White Hart Lane.
Should Tottenham find a new club for the Russian then they could make a move to try and tempt Van Nistelrooy after having already made contact in June.
Talks between Madrid and Spurs were held two months ago regarding several players, but the negotiations stalled because of player wages.
Now though Van Nistelrooy may consider the move because his chances of playing regularly at Madrid could be limited after the arrival of Karim Benzema.
Real Madrid Have An Incredible Squad - Ruud - Comment (0) .
Real Madrid have spent millions to buy new players and one of their stars is pleased...
Ruud van Nistelrooy is delighted with the new-look Real Madrid squad and has revealed his excitement after making his return to action after six months on the sidelines.
The Dutch striker has been impressed with Los Merengues' summer rebuilding project and is looking forward to the new season now that he has recovered from a knee injury.
Against Rosenborg on Sunday, Van Nistelrooy made his long-awaited comeback and told reporters afterwards that he likes the look of Madird's squad for the new campaign.
"This is a quality team. The squad is incredible and we are all very excited. We will keep up the good work," he was quoted as saying by the club's official website.

Emotional Return For Real Madrid Striker Ruud van Nistelrooy
The Dutch striker played for the first time since November 2008 last night...
Real Madrid forward Ruud van Nistelrooy said he was "thrilled" after making his long-awaited return to action.
Van Nistelrooy came off the bench for the final quarter of an hour of Los Merengues' 4-0 victory over Rosenborg in the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy.
Afterwards, the Dutchman told AS of his joy at returning to first team football and of the frustration experienced during the last ten months.
"It was impressive, when I left to warm-up until I entered the field I was excited. I don't have words to describe it," he said.
"The hardest thing was to spend six months in the gym and not be able to run."
Since signing from Manchester United in 2006, Van Nistelrooy, now 33, scored 63 goals in 93 games in all competitions for Madrid before suffering a season-ending torn meniscus in his right knee in November of last year.

Ruud is on the frontpage of the AS, i added it to the gallery!! There is a article about Ruud, i hope it apears in ENGLISH.. when it does i will add it to the site ofcourse!! Read here the article in Spanish: CLICK HERE!!

The two players are the main novelties in the squad list for match against Rosenborg
Mahamadou Diarra and Ruud Van Nistelrooy have recovered from their respective injuries and were included in the squad list for Monday's game against Rosenborg. Metzelder, Torres and Sergio Ramos aren't yet fit to play, while Adan, Sneijder and Van der Vaart were left off due to a coaching decision.
Goalkeepers:Casillas, Dudek Defenders: Pepe, Marcelo, Albiol, Garay, Arbeloa and Drenthe Midfielders :Lass, Robben, Guti, Gago, Granero, Diarra and Xabi Alonso Forwards: Raul, Kaka, Benzema, Higuain, Van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo .
You guys asked me several questions when ruud will be able to play again, and if he stays at madrid. The truth is i don't know.. Ruud and Diarra joined the group again, but they didn't play for 9 months so it will take a while to be match fit again.
Last match they have bin left out because of *coach decissions*, and not because they are injured so they are fit.
If he stays at madrid..?? No idea.. See the article below (thanks to alexander), many of that kind of stories goes around.. so i think that we only can be shure if he stays when the transfers window is closed.
But he has no plans of leaving, and he still has a contract.. and i read that real madrid want to give him a chance, because he did great things for them.. so there is a chance that we see him again in white next season.. but other stories tell that they want to get rid of him..
but the main question will be, can he get to toplevel again..?
Real Madrid Duo Ruud And Guti Linked With Vietnam Move - Comment (0) .
Could the veterans make a shock move to South-East Asia?
Reports in AS this morning suggest that Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy and Guti are targets for T&T Hanoi.
The Vietnamese championship is said to be undergoing a revamp, and the signing of two high-profile names like Van Nistelrooy and Guti is a major part of the project.
They would not be the first big-name players to venture into Vietnamese football. Former Real Betis and Brazil winger Denilson played for Xi Man Hai Phong for one game in June of this year, scoring on his debut before leaving after just three weeks.
The president of T&T Hanoi, Do Quang Hien, is said to be keen to bring the Blancos pair to Vietnam. Spaniard Guti, 32, and Dutch international Van Nistelrooy, 33, have been linked with moves away from the Bernabeu since the arrival of Karim Benzema, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Do Quang Hien is also reportedly interested in Chelsea's Portuguese midfielder, Deco.

Ruud and Diarra Ready To Return For Real Madrid - Comment (0) .
The two long-term injury casualties will rejoin the Blancos squad after the club’s tour of North America.
Real Madrid will soon welcome Ruud van Nistelrooy and Mahamadou Diarra back to the squad as they near full recovery following their season-ending knee surgeries last year.
The duo are expected to finally rejoin the rest of the group once Los Blancos return from their North American tour, where they are scheduled to face Toronto FC and DC United.
AS has reported that the club’s medical services assessed the pair’s condition last Sunday and they passed the test without any complications.
Both Van Nistelrooy and Diarra have so far only been able to focus on field work, gym exercises and ball training, but with their recovery close to completion, they will soon be able to undergo intense work-outs with the rest of the squad.
However, it remains highly possible that neither player will feature for Real next season, as the ‘Casa Blanca’ are looking to offload them to trim down their squad.
Diarra has reportedly attracted attention from Italy and Van Nistelrooy has been linked with a move back to the Premier League, but neither are expected to receive any concrete offers until they can prove that they are fully fit.
I've added a new layout, its made by oh designs, and i think its great!! I hope you all like it, please let me know what you think, and if you see any errors..!!

Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy make the cut - Comment (0) .
Premier League Team of the Decade
Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy have unquestionable quality. Both players have been chosen as part of the Premier League Team of the Decade.
Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy played together at Manchester United, dominating the Premiership thanks to the lethal attacking front they formed.
Ronaldo won three Premiership titles and one FA Cup, as well as the Ballon d'Or, the FIFA World Player award and the Golden Boot. The Dutch striker earned one Premiership title and one FA Cup, winning Top-Scoring honours in the 2002/03 campaign.
Mahamadou Diarra and Ruud van Nistelrooy continue with their respective recovery protocols. The two players did increase their rhythm as well and today spent a lot of time lifting weights.
I've added a new picture of today to the gallery!!
Ruud van Nistelrooy and Mahamadou Diarra train with the squad.
. The good news keeps piling up. This time it’s that Ruud van Nistelrooy and Mahamadou Diarra exercised alongside their teammates this morning and even got some ball-work in.
Van Nistelrooy was injured on 5 November in a match against Juventus and was forced to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee; an operation that was to keep him sidelined for six to nine months.
Mahamadou Diarra suffered a right knee injury on 11 October, but after returning on the 30th of that same month, the Mali international relapsed and was operated on on 8 December. His recovery time was also an expected six to nine months.
After months of hard work and physiotherapy, both players can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The two players returned to the pitch on 3 June for a light jog and 40 days later have proven that the road to recovery is almost complete. On Saturday and Sunday they jogged alongside the rest of the squad and on Monday they both manager to get some ball work in.

Valdano Tells Dutch Players They Can Leave Real Madrid - Comment (0) .
The number of Dutch players at the Bernabeu could decrease from six to zero, as they have all been made available for transfer...
Real Madrid's general director, Jorge Valdano, has confirmed that the club's Dutch contingent can all leave the club if they receive suitable offers.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, Valdano has already told Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Royston Drenthe, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Arjen Robben and Ruud Van Nistelrooy that they can leave the club if an acceptable offer is received.
Out of the six, Huntelaar has come closest to an exit, but appears to have turned down Stuttgart's contract offer at the last minute. Manchester United remain interested in his services.
It was a similar story with Royston Drenthe, who looked set for a move to Fiorentina, before La Viola pulled out of the deal.
Wesley Sneijder, meanwhile, is being tracked by Chelsea, while Los Merengues are still trying to use any one of Sneijder, Van Der Vaart or Robben in their bid to bring Xabi Alonso to the Bernabeu.
Finally, Ruud Van Nistelrooy is also yet to find a new club, with potential suitors like Blackburn Rovers having been put off by his wage demands.
Real Madrid will start training again on 10 July - Comment (0) .
Real Madrid must think of the future, of a very exciting campaign in which they want to achieve something great for all Madridismo. The team will start preparing for this on 10 July.
Manuel Pellegrini will have his first two training sessions at Valdebebas this weekend. Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will also join the rest of the team for the first time. The entire squad -save for Casillas, Ramos, Albiol and Kaka, who are still on holiday- will leave for Ireland on 13 July, where they will be training between the 14th and 22nd of the same month. They will face current Irish champions Shamrock Rovers on their last day.
The team will return to Madrid to participate in the Peace Cup between 26 July and 2 August, the latter being the date for the tournament final in Seville. The Whites are scheduled to play in Toronto and Washington DC on 7 and 9 August, respectively, before facing Borussia in Dortmund on the 19th. Finally, Real Madrid will clash with Milan in the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy on 25 August.
Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce admits he has been priced out of a move for Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Allardyce is looking for a new forward after the departures of Matt Derbyshire and Roque Santa Cruz this month.
And he was hoping to persuade the 33-year-old former Manchester United striker to return to England.
"I think probably Ruud, from a salary point of view, is out of our reach and I think he is not going to be fit until September," Allardyce said.
"We need someone right now who can join up with the squad as soon as we can."
Allardyce also denied he had made an approach for Portsmouth and England striker Peter Crouch - also on financial grounds.
"We think he is probably out of our reach and bigger clubs than Blackburn will take him if Portsmouth decide they are going to sell him. No-one has said to me from Portsmouth that he is for sale, so we haven't done anything from that point of view."
Van Nistelrooy spent five seasons at Old Trafford, scoring 150 goals in fewer than 200 games over five seasons.
The Dutch striker moved to Real in the summer of 2006, but he has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu following the Spanish side's signings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo in recent weeks.
Van Nistelrooy, who is also thought to be a target of Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, is rumoured to be available for £1.5m.
Lyon closing in on Real's Van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
MADRID (AFP) — Lyon want to sign Real Madrid's Dutch striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy to replace Karim Benzema who has agreed to join the Spanish giants, sports daily Marca reported on Thursday.
Lyon was initially interested in another Dutch striker, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who has sparked interest from AC Milan, but he refused to join the French side, the newspaper reported.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, then asked his Real counterpart Florentino Perez to try to convince Van Nistelrooy, out injured for most of last season, to join the club, it added.
The 33-year-old, who moved to Real in the summer of 2006, has said he would like to stay on at Real.
But he has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu following the Spanish side's signings of Brazil's Kaka and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo in recent weeks.
Van Nistelrooy underwent an operation in November 2008 on his right knee which the club said at the time would sideline him from six to nine months.
The Dutchman has scored 45 league goals for Real, four of them last season before being injured.
He was the top scorer in the league for 2006-07 with 25 goals in 37 matches.
The Spanish press said Perez hopes to sell most of the club's Dutch players, Aside from Van Nistelrooy and Huntelaar, these are Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder and Royston Drenthe.
Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce wants to bring Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy back to the Premier League.
Allardyce is looking for a new forward after the departures of Matt Derbyshire and Roque Santa Cruz this month.
And, after persuading Nicolas Anelka to join him at Bolton in 2006, Allardyce believes the former Manchester United forward, 33, can be tempted by Rovers.
"Who'd have thought Bolton would get Anelka? Nobody," he said. "It would be a major coup if I could pull it off."
And Allardyce has money to spend after selling Santa Cruz to Manchester City for £17m and Derbyshire to Greek side Olympiacos for £3m.
Van Nistelrooy, who is also thought to be a target of Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, is rumoured to be available for £1.5m.
However, Allardyce conceded that the his wages could prove a stumbling block.
"The sort of salary he would be on at Real Madrid may be beyond us," Allardyce said.
"But maybe he wants to come and play in England again and take less of a salary - then we'd be interested."
Meanwhile, Allardyce has ruled out a move for Michael Owen, who he managed at Newcastle during the early part of the 2007-08 season.
The England striker's contract expires at the end of June and the 29-year-old, who is available on a free transfer, has made it clear he wants to leave the Magpies for a Premier League club.
However, Allardyce said: "I just question the injury scenario.
"I need a striker that's going to be available for 30 games next season. That's not happened for Michael over the last four years.
Ruud Favours Real Madrid Fight Over Tottenham Hotspur Switch - Comment (0) .
The Dutch hitman is keen to stay in Spain and fight for his place.
Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is ready to stay and fight for his future in Spain.
The former Manchester United striker has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur but has now spoken on his future.
Reports from Setanta Sports claim the 32-year-old striker is looking forward to fighting for his place after returning from injury.
"I’m injured so I do not know what they want of me, I am happy at Real and want to go back and get the opportunity to prove myself."
The Dutchman added, "I have a strong motivation to succeed at Real. I believe I have plenty to offer Real."
Van Nistelrooy may want to stay but after the arrival of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, Real may need to start selling players if they wish to bring in anymore 'Galacticos'.
Ruud: Cristiano Ronaldo Has Everything - Comment (0) .
Real Madrid's record-breaking signing is going to be a great success because he has everything, the Dutchman believes...
Ruud van Nistelrooy is excited by the prospect of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Real Madrid and believes that his former Manchester United team-mate has everything.
The Dutch striker's own place at the Santiago Bernabeu maybe in question, but he thinks that the Portuguese star will be a huge success with the Spanish giants.
Madrid are set to pay around €94 million to Manchester United for Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy is delighted that he could be playing alongside him once more.
"Good players are always welcome. Cristiano is fantastic," he is quoted as saying by the club's official website.
"He is very young, but he has a lot of experience after playing in the World Cup, Euro, Champions League and English competitions."
Allied with the experience of playing at the highest level, Ronaldo could fulfill his dream of becoming the best in the world, Van Nistelrooy thinks.
"He is strong both physically and technically and I think that he has everything," he added.
Ruud van Nistelrooy insists he has no plans to quit Real Madrid, but has advised his fellow Dutch team-mates to move on.
Madrid have embarked on a spending spree since Florentino Perez returned to the club as president with Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo joining in massive-money deals.
With more signings on the horizon, several of Madrid’s Holland contingent are likely to see their places come under threat.
Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Royston Drenthe and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar have all been linked with moves away from the club and Van Nistelrooy says if they get an offer they should go.
“I just stick to my contract,” Van Nistelrooy told Nos Radio.
"When the other guys get an offer from a big club, they should accept it.
“They all have big goals, one of which is also participating in the 2010 World Cup, possibly in the starting XI.
"It is different for me. I am injured, and I do not know what Madrid want from me."
Van Nistelrooy was linked with a return to The Premier League with Tottenham mooted as a possible destination.
The North London club were also reportedly keen to tie up a triple deal for Robben, Huntelaar and former Manchester United full back Gabriel Heinze.

Fulham Rival Tottenham For Real Madrid's Van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy will have a choice if he is told to leave Real Madrid as a second London club want him.
Tottenham Hotspur will not have a clear run in their bid to prise Ruud van Nistelrooy away from Real Madrid after Fulham registered their interest, according to a report.
The Dutch striker is seen as surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu by the new regime that has just taken charge and the club is welcoming offers.
Van Nistelrooy missed the majority of last term with a knee injury, but is back in full training and is expected to be ready to play again when pre-season starts across Europe in July.
Reports in England last week suggested that Tottenham had been told that they could sign van Nistelrooy for as little as £1.5 million (€1.7m).
With Roman Pavlyuchenko and Darren Bent both rumoured to be leaving White Hart Lane this summer, the former Manchester United forward would become first choice in Harry Redknapp's side.
That looked to be enough to persuade him to move back to the Premier League and to north London, but now ambitious Fulham have entered the picture, according to The Daily Telegraph.
After qualifying for Europe for next season, manager Roy Hodgson wants to add some experience to his squad and believes that van Nistelrooy would raise the club's profile too.
Tottenham Favourites To Sign Ruud van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
A British tabloid report claims that Spurs are in pole position to bring the striker back to the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly emerged as surprise favourites to sign Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The People claims that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is believed to have contacted the Spanish side about the striker’s availability and has been informed he is available for just €1.5 million.
The Real man is currently recovering from a knee injury that saw his season end prematurely in November but is expected to be fit in time for the new season.
He is also widely expected to leave the Bernabeu after three years at the club and The People claims he has been informed by president Florentino Perez that he is surplus to requirements.
Redknapp has long been linked with a move for a striker, with Blackburn Rovers forward Roque Santa Cruz also believed to be interesting the White Hart Lane outfit.
However, Van Nistelrooy would undoubtedly prove a cheaper addition than the Paraguayan and the report claims Redknapp believes he will strike up a fearsome partnership with Robbie Keane.
Of course, the Dutchman has plenty of Premier League experience, having spent five years at Manchester United and helped the Red Devils to Premier League and FA Cup titles.
The free-scoring Van Nistelrooy was a huge hit at Old Trafford, netting 150 goals for the club before leaving to join Madrid in 2006.
Ruud van Nistelrooy was today presented with the Deporte Gredos de Guisando Award in recognition of his career in sports and humanitarian efforts.
"He's a charming person," said Jose Miguel Blazquez, Director of the Award committee who, along with Real Madrid doctor, Juan Carlos Hernandez, handed Van Nistelrooy the lucky jug.
"Hopefully it will help me recover and have a good season. That's the plan," commented an appreciative Van Nistelrooy.
Past winners include singer Miguel Bose, actress Elsa Pataky, the current Primer Minister of Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, and Real Madrid's own Raul Gonzalez and Iker Casillas.
Van Nistelrooy: "Running for the first time in seven months felt great"
Shortly after receiving the Deporte Gredos de Guisando Award, Ruud van Nistelrooy spoke to Realmadrid.com about the day's events and new Real Madrid coach, Manuel Pellegrini.
“It's great to be working with Diarra. We are going through similar situations and have been helping one another a lot. Doing this together makes all the effort much easier.”
“I am still working hard to recover and I still have a few days left before going on vacation. I started running again and am happy I was able to. Running for the first time in seven months felt great.”
“Pellegrini did a great job at Villarreal over the last few years. All those who know him and have worked with him only have kind words about him. Let's see how everything goes, but I am sure it will all go well.”
“This is a new era and we all start from scratch. My only thoughts now are on my knee and recovering as soon as I can so that I can get back to work.”

Van Nistelrooy: "All that mattered was my knee; my life"
Ruud van Nistelrooy has recovered the smile that was lost six months ago after learning he would miss the rest of the season. It has been a long and arduous healing process, and it would have been much harder without the support from fans. In an exclusive interview with realmadrid.com, the Real Madrid striker made it clear that he is eager to return to the pitch of the Santiago Bernabeu.
First of all, how do you feel? Fine now. I’ve spent the last six months recovering and the worst is now behind me.
How was the day to day work? Did you put in many hours? The first phase was the most difficult because I was still on crutches. I did eight hours of passive rehab on my knee each day and spent a lot of time getting massages from physiotherapists. Then I began working on my physique with a stationary bike, elliptical machine and water exercises. I’ve been increasing the load since February and working hard on cardio, increasing my stamina and building muscle mass. It was a hard process, but I can now say that I am ready to begin running.
When will we see you back on the pitch? I will start jogging slowly next week and will increase the pace on a daily basis. The team’s preseason begins around the middle of July, and if everything goes as planned I hope to be back in action with the squad in August. I am so anxious to return.
Have you thought a lot about the night you were injured against Juventus? Nobody thought it was such a severe injury. It wasn’t injured during that match. It happened during the first half of the match in Turin and I played through the pain. Then I played the match at the Bernabeu although everyone knew I wasn’t well. It was an important match. I wanted to play and the club wanted me to play.
Do you regret it? No.
When they told you they had to operate on the same knee, did you think back to the injury sustained back in 2000? We didn’t think the meniscus was affected and that I would return within six to eight weeks. Then they saw a more severe problem, the cartilage, and I knew it would take a lot more time. I had to lie down and have a glass of water because it was a tremendous shock. I spoke to the doctor to ask him how long I would be out. All that mattered was my knee; my life. I was told it would take about nine months, that my knee would be as good as new and that I could return to football. I knew I would have to work hard, but I immediately focused on recovering and returning as soon as possible.
The doctor who performed the surgery said you are as strong at 32 as you were at 24, when you suffered your first injury, and that you would return to your good old self because you were so eager to play. Yes. I am doing everything I can for that to be the case. I have sometimes asked myself, “Why do I do all this?” And the answer is to return to football. I still haven’t done everything I set out to accomplish and there is a lot left for me to win on the pitch. That is my main goal.
Ronaldo went through the same hell last year. He made it back, is scoring goals and is even thinking about playing in the 2010 World Cup. Perhaps we will see you back in action with the Netherlands. You never know! Examples like Ronaldo are great. I was able to speak to other players who dealt with the same injury and the message was clear: know you can recover from it. When you work hard and do what you are supposed to, you will return.
Has the way you have taken care of yourself throughout your career also helped? I think so. I am in good shape, albeit different. Things like that help. I am ready to run whenever I given the green light.
They say that it is during the worst of times that you realize how much people care about you. Who has been your biggest support? My wife and family mostly. They know the extent of the matter, that I want to play every week and that that is how I enjoy living. It’s tough, but they have been a tremendous help during these difficult times. My teammates have also been there, like when they took to the pitch while wearing t-shirts to cheer me up. I have received hundreds of emails and card from fans as well. I have a huge scrapbook where they are saved and I get choked up every time I read it.
Have you noticed the care and support from everyday fans? It has been incredible. People have treated me so well. They tell me that they miss me and that I need to return soon. It’s people like that who motivate me to go to the gym every day and to do another two hours of work.
The Sanitas-Real Madrid Medical Staff have also helped. I have been in good hands ever since I was injured. The doctors have guided and supported me throughout the process. I can’t name any one specific person. All the doctors and therapists have been very involved in my recovery.
Do you want to continue playing for Real Madrid next season? Yes. Of course. I have another year left on my contract and I am very happy. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that I will stay. I will get better and I will play again at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Is it hard to watch the team play on television? It’s worse than being at the stadium. As the weeks went by and we cut points off of Barcelona’s lead, I thought we would win the league. We weren’t winning matches in easy fashion. The team had to battle in each match. We were right there, but everything was pretty much lost after the Clasico. With everything that the club went through, like a change in coach, change in president… you have to admit that the players managed to focus on training, playing and winning. We were right there until the end. I think the team did a great job.
I'm supporting United, says Van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed that he will support Manchester United in the Champions League final.
The Real Madrid striker, who spent the majority of the season on the sidelines after picking up a cruciate knee ligament injury, still feels attached to The Red Devils.
The Dutchman, who has been linked to a summer move to Galatasaray, spent five seasons at Old Trafford, scoring 95 goals for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, and he is hoping they retain the trophy on Wednesday night.
“They [United] are my old team-mates and I am going to support them tonight,” Van Nistelrooy told As.
“But if Barca play the football they have been playing this year, defeating them will be difficult.”
Galatasaray Reach A Deal To Sign Ruud Van Nistelrooy - Comment (0) .
The striker could be on his way out of Madrid this summer...
Reports in Turkey claim that Galatasaray have reached an agreement to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy and now just need to negotiate a deal with Real Madrid.
The Dutch striker has been injured for much of this season and rumours have surfaced that he will be sold in the summer when the new president arrives.
Milliyet reports that Haldun Ustunel, a director of Galatasaray, travelled to Holland and came to a verbal agreement with the player himself for a move.
Now the Turkish club will have to speak to Madrid and see whether or not they can finalise the deal this summer.
A lot could depend on the plans of the new president this summer, with the favourite for the position, Florentino Perez rumoured to be willing to sell the Dutch striker.
Currently he has a deal with Madrid until 2010 but with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Gonzalo Higuain and Raul already in the side, he could find himself fighting for a place when he returns.
Ruud van Nistelrooy Ready To Return But Ineligible To Play For Real Madrid - Comment (0) .
Los Blancos’ hasty decisions in the winter transfer market could come back to bite them one last time before the season is out.
After a lengthy absence due to a knee injury, Real Madrid hitman Ruud van Nistelrooy is ready to return to action.
After undergoing an operation in the United States back in mid-November, the Dutchman has spent the last six months recovering but he has now completed his rehabilitation and is ready to rejoin training with the rest of the team.
Although he is unlikely to attain full match-fitness and sharpness, Sport believes that Van Nistelrooy could appear in Los Merengues’ last three games of the season, against Villarreal, Mallorca and Osasuna.
The problem, however, is that Madrid de-registered the striker from the squad after realising that he could be out for up to nine months. His direct replacement, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, as well as Lassana Diarra, were brought in and entered into the list. And while not many fans would have any problems with that, they might not be too pleased to know that Julien Faubert was the one who took up the 25th and final spot in the roster.
With only a glimmer of hope left of winning the league title and second place in the standings all but sewn up, the Blancos may not have much to play for but Madridistas could be deprived of seeing their former Pichichi winner in action one last time.
If rumours are to be believed, the 32-year-old, whose contract expires on June 30, 2010, could be one of the many players offloaded by the new administration. There are also reports that he could ask for his contract to be terminated to make a jump to Italy and fulfil his dream of playing in Serie A before hanging up his boots.
Perez Hopes on €100m For Real Madrid’s ‘Dutch Clan’ - Comment (0) .
The Godfather of the Galacticos has reportedly come up with a plan to give his pre-election campaign an early boost…
A report had emerged several weeks ago that Real Madrid’s potential future president, Florentino Perez would disband the group of Dutch players currently in the Blancos roster should he regain power at the club.
The speculation has now grown stronger and the ex-supremo, who has confirmed that he will present his candidacy on May 14 for the upcoming presidential elections, is looking to pocket at least €100 million by selling off the six Oranje players: Arjen Robben, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Royston Drenthe, Rafael van der Vaart, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Wesley Sneijder.
According to AS, Los Blancos spent a total of €125 million to bring the sextet to the Spanish capital over a period of two-and-a-half years and collectively, they have not been able to produced the desired effect or result for the team. Although four of the six (Drenthe, van der Vaart, Huntelaar and Sneijder) have struggled to impress all season long and have barely made the first team, the Spanish daily still believes that they can fetch the club a significant amount around the €100m mark.
Perez is well aware that despite his economic strength, he still has to offload a number of key players and raise sufficient funds to support his project of rebuilding Los Merengues by signing at least four world-class superstars, with names like Franck Ribery, Kaka, Cesc Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, David Villa and David Silva all at the top of his wish-list.
PSV MASCOTTE visit ruud, and got a signed shirt, and a autograph on a psv ball. The psv mascotte Phoxy visit all kind of old psv players like: Mark van Bommel, Arjen Robben, Jan vennegoor of Hesselink and Mateja Kezman.
Injured Dutchman a month away from first-team training
Real Madrid's injured striker Ruud van Nistelrooy believes he is just a month away from returning to first-team training.
The former Manchester United star has been on the sidelines since November after undergoing knee surgery.
The injury will still keep the 32-year-old out of action for the remainder of the campaign, but he will be fit to rejoin his team-mates on the training field.
And the experienced striker is looking forward to getting back into the action after his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
OPTIMISTIC "I think I will be able to return to training in a month. It feels good and I am optimistic," he told Marca.
"I'm looking forward to kicking a ball again and playing a match.
"I will have to wait until next season, but I am very enthusiastic and very motivated."
It looks like Ruud gave a intervieuw to marca, because he is on the frontpage of that newspaper. I think its weird because injured players are not aloud to talk with the spanish press. But for us its fun!
I hope this article will come online later i today, and when it is i will add it here ofcourse!!
Real Madrid Striker Van Nistelrooy Has English Offers - Comment (0) .
If Ruud van Nistelrooy is told by Real Madrid that he is surplus to requirements in the new look squad, then a return to England could be on the cards...
Ruud van Nistelrooy has received offers from English teams who are hoping to persuade him to return to the Premier League in the summer after reports suggested that Real Madrid would let him leave.
The 32-year-old Dutchman has spent most of the current season on the sidelines with a knee injury and is not expected to be out for the rest of the campaign, but that has not lessened the interest of his suitors.
Tottenham Hotspur are one of the main clubs linked with a move for Van Nistelrooy as manager Harry Redknapp is not convinced about Roman Pavlyuchenko's place at the club.
The north London outfit could be joined by Newcastle United in the bidding if they are not relegated according to AS but Manchester City's name appears to have been added given their new-found wealth and desire for new players.
If Florentino Perez does take over at the Bernabeu in the summer, a host of new players are expected to join Madrid meaning that several will have to leave.
One report has already suggested that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will be the only Dutch player not up for sale, with the other five, including van Nistelrooy, told to find new clubs.
AS believe that the former Manchester United striker is aware of the situation and his agent has ensured that he knows about which clubs could offer him a way out if he is told he is no longer wanted by Los Merengues.
I get many questions from you about when ruud is gonna play again, thats why i wanted to post this:
I have no contact with Ruud, and in spain there is a rule that the press can't talk with injured players, so i have no idea how it is with him.
A couple of months ago he gave a intervieuw to a dutch newspaper, and he said that the plan is: in MAY walking on the field, but not training with his teammates yet, so there will be some news and pictures then. In June he has a little vacation, with a little trainingsprogramme and then he will start the preseason sessions with his teammates and in august he will play a practice match with his team. So thats the plan!
We just have to wait and see if it all will go like that, But ofcourse there will be a chance that if the knee doesn't respond the way he should do, that ruud has to end his career, but as his fans, we just have to be patient and hope he come back stronger as he was before! like 8 years ago!!
Huntelaar equals Van Nistelrooy's first year scoring stats
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is accomlishing his mission and has been the perfect fill-in for Ruud van Nistelrooy. In his first eleven matches with Real Madrid, The Hunter has scored the same number of goals as Van Gol, the last Madridista Pichichi winner.
Huntelaar has played in a total of eleven matches for Real Madrid and scored eight goals; the same figures as his predecessor two years earlier, when Van Nistelrooy beat out Sevilla's Frederic Kanoute to earn the Pichichi trophy as the league's top scorer.
Similar to his Dutch counterpart, Huntelaar has had a magical start to his career with Real Madrid. He's got everything it takes to succeed in the Spanish capital. But that's not all. He also has the best adviser who just happens to fall into a long line of Madridista greats, including Puskas, Grosso, Hugo Sanchez, Zamorano and Ronaldo among others.
Huntelaar: “It's an honor to learn from a striker of his status” "Van Nistelrooy is an amazing striker who I have a lot to learn from. We speak often and he helps me. During my first few matches when I was unable to score, he told me to remain calm and not lose focus. I owe it to him.”
United boss selects best players he has managed at the club
Sir Alex Ferguson has named a cluster of players who he believes would demand a place in his Manchester United dream team.
The Scot has had the privilege of managing some of the world's top stars during his 22-year stint in the Old Trafford hot-seat.
The 67-year-old currently has one of the strongest squads during his reign at the club and it is no surprise that a number of them make the list.
After building what many call his 'third great team' after the side which won the Premier League in 1993, thus ending a 26-year wait for a league title, and the team who claimed n the Treble in 1999, Ferguson has a whole host of talent to choose from.
"There are so many great players," he told the New Statesman.
"(Peter) Scmeichel and (Edwin) Van der Sar. Both top keepers. Full-backs Denis Irwin, Gary Neville, (Patrice) Evra and these Da Silva boys (Rafael and Fabio) are something else.
"Centre-backs you'd have to say (Jaap) Stam, (Steve) Bruce, (Gary) Pallister, (Rio) Ferdinand and (Nemanja) Vidic. Ronny Johnsen was top drawer as well. Jonny Evans will be up there.
"For midfield I ask myself who were the players you could not leave out of your best team? Bryan Robson for sure. Roy Keane. (Paul) Scholes, (Ryan) Giggs, I'd never ever leave him out if I was playing my best.
"(Cristiano) Ronaldo and (Eric) Cantona are both 'never leave out' players. You'd have (David) Beckham knocking on the door.
"Out-and-out strikers, where do I start, (Ruud) Van Nistelrooy, (Andy) Cole, (Dwight) Yorke, (Ole Gunnar) Solskjaer, (Teddy) Sheringham. As for (Wayne) Rooney if I left him out I'd have to do it by email or I'd never hear the end of it.
"When you go through it like that, I have been blessed with terrific players. I've got some great players now.
"But nobody can do it on their own. It's about the team. I can give the leadership and the direction the team has to gel."
The United boss also revealed that not signing Paul Gascoigne was his biggest regret since he had been at the club declaring that he "would have done brilliantly" at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile he added that there was "no question" his biggest mistake was selling Dutch defender Stam to Lazio in 2001.
Eighteen players to go in Real Madrid clearout - Comment (0) .
Up to EIGHTEEN Real Madrid players could be offloaded at the end of the season.
El Mundo Deportivo says Jordi Codina, Jerzy Dudek, Michel Salgado, Gabriel Heinze, Fabio Cannavaro, Javi Garcia, Mahamadou Diarra, Royston Drenthe, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Christoph Metzelder, Javier Saviola, Julien Faubert, Marcelo and Miguel Torres will all be either touted around Europe or allowed to wind down their existing contracts through to June 30.
The above 15 could be joined by trio Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Arjen Robben and Fernando Gago - all depending on how they perform between now and the end of the season.
There are also eight untouchables, who Real will not consider offers for under any circumstances: Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Gonzalo Higuain, Lassana Diarra, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Guti and Raul.
Ruud Keen To Make Peace With Sir Alex Ferguson - Comment (0) .
Ruud van Nistelrooy wants to make-up with Sir Alex Ferguson.
The pair reportedly fell-out after Ferguson left the Dutchman out of his League Cup starting line-up in 2006, a move which marked the beginning of the end of his Manchester United career.
At the end of the same season van Nistelrooy admitted he wanted to leave the club, and subsequently signed for Real Madrid for €18 million.
However, speaking to the Sunday Mirror the Real Madrid striker admitted that he wanted to meet up with the Scot and was keen to put their disagreements behind him.
“I'm so looking forward to see him again. I want to talk and make up, clear the air between us,” explained the 32-year-old.
“After all this time I can't believe or understand what it was really all about. Why did it have to be such a big thing?
“I think we were both to blame. It just exploded between us.”
The forward also went on to attempt to explain how hurt he had been by the breakdown in his relationship with his former manager.
“We had such a smashing relationship, I just thought, 'What on earth are you doing to me?'” said van Nistelrooy.
“I was so upset. As a professional player you never get so attached to your club or manager that a clash will hurt you that much.
“But in this case it did. It got very personal.”
The Blanco striker is currently recovering from a season-ending knee injury.
Dutch national coach Bert van marwijk is open for a comeback of ruud van nistelrooy. The forward of real madrid said in a intervieuw in a dutch newspaper that he stays open for Oranje.
Listen i've thanked my self for the national team, says van gol against algemeen dagblad. But as the coach calls me because he needs me, i won't say no, ofcource not. But first i have to recover and try to get back at my top level and then we will se from there.
Those words sounds very good, says coach van marwijk. I think its very positive when someone of his level says something like this. That means that he thinks very positive about the dutch national team.
I think the most important thing right now is, that he recovers from his injury, and after that he can call me for a possible come back!!

André-Pierre Gignac: I Want To Emulate Ruud - Comment (0) .
A confessed fan of prolific Dutch striker Ruud Van Nisterooy, Toulouse forward André-Pierre Gignac wishes to become as dangerous in the penalty box as his hero.
When it comes to scoring goals, few are better in world football than Ruud Van Nistlerooy, however, the Dutchman is sidelined for Real Madrid at present. His injury problems have not stopped young Toulouse forward André-Pierre Gignac from admiring his ability to score goals.
Gignac has proven himself none-too-bad at finding the net this season. In total, the 23-year-old has scored 13 Ligue 1 goals in just 20 appearances, however, these have all come with his right-foot, leading the forward to admit that there are areas of his game that need improvement.
“It's true that I need to work on a lot of areas of my game," he is quoted to have confessed on the LFP’s official website. "My left foot, my heading, my movement in the penalty box and how I economise my energy during the course of a match.
“Van Nistelrooy is my only role model. I watch the way he moves and the way he addresses the ball and try to take in and apply what I have observed.”
Real Madrid striker Ruud Begins Recovery Program - Comment (0) .
The hard work will now begin for Van Gol as he starts his gruelling rehabilitation program following knee surgery in November.
Two months after going under the knife to repair damaged cartilage in his knee, Real Madrid striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy has finally returned to the club’s Valdebebas training ground to begin his rehabilitation program.
The Dutchman was given the all clear to discard his crutches and yesterday, he appeared in the Sports City training facility to meet up with the club’s medical services to outline a recovery plan over the next six to seven months.
The next month and a half will consist of physiotherapy work in the swimming pool and in the gym to strengthen his muscles around the knee. Although there were hopes that the 32-year-old could return for a brief cameo towards the end of this campaign, his realistic target is to be fully fit and ready for next season’s pre-season training.
Defensive midfielder Mahamadou Diarrà, who had to undergo a similar operation in his knee, will also join van Nistelrooy’s recovery plan. The Malian is currently completing the final phase of his rest period outside of Spain but he will return to the club in two weeks’ time to begin his rehabilitation.
