The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still trying to persue the legal possibilities of getting compensation from the Dutch FA after his main striker Robin Van Persie suffered a devastating ankle injury while playing in a friendly match against Italy.
But the Frenchman admitted that they were far from presenting a case as yet, saying that they were still in “enquiry”.
“There is nothing there, we are a little bit in no-man’s land at the moment,” said Wenger.
“Why? Because for the international friendlies it is very difficult to get anywhere.
“We are still in enquiry.”
The Dutch FA have rubbished Arsenal claims, and said that there was no chance of them getting any compensation.
Dutch FA president Henk Kesler previously said that Arsenal should stop “shouting their mouths off,” and read the rules, which state that the domestic clubs are responsible for insuring the players on international duty.
“Before Arsenal were shouting their mouths off in public, they should have studied the FIFA rules.” said Kesler.
“If you read the rules, then you know that players are always insured by their clubs. They are also insured by the club when they are on their travels with the national team. Let Arsenal come to us with their legal claim and we will fight it.”
If Arsenal HAVE been studying the rule books but still haven’t found a basis for a compensation claim in the last two weeks, then it would seem that Kesler is right.
