ROBIN VAN PERSIE last night admitted Scotland were robbed of a goal in Amsterdam.Gary Caldwell bulleted the ball home with a header in the second half when Holland were leading 2-0.
It was chopped off by ref Laurent Duhamel who insisted Gary Teale impeded keeper Maarten Stekelenburg but
van Persie insisted he saw nothing wrong with it.
He said: "The goal Scotland scored was good - I didn't see anything unusual when I watched the replay on television."
The Arsenal star also agreed with Scotland boss George Burley that keeper Allan McGregor had been blocked when van Persie scored the second goal.
His rare header effectively crushed Scotland's hopes and McGregor was blasted for failing to come off his line. But van Persie said: "Klaas Jan Huntelaar made a good block. There were still two players in front of me and one other there but I was able to make it."
He also said he was amazed the Scots were so poor at defending aerial attacks.
He said: "I've been a bit unlucky with headers lately for Arsenal, hitting the woodwork or having efforts cleared off the line, so I was really happy to see the one against Scotland go in.
"It's quite funny as Arjen Robben suggested I should take the corner but I felt something in my groin and told him to take it.
"I certainly didn't expected that because I thought they would be dominant in the air but on two occasions on Saturday they weren't.
"It wasn't as easy as it looked. Gregory vander Wiel and the whole defence pushed forward and that made it easier for the forwards. We dominated the game and Scotland never had one clear chance."
Asked if he had been impressed by any of the Scots, van Persie picked out Ross McCormack but insisted the Cardiff man was let down by a lack of support from his more experienced team-mates.
He said: "Scotland's No.10 has a lot of quality but he was alone as the others weren't helping him. He's a talented player.
"McCormack has good touch, he's quick and I liked what I saw of him.
"I have played against him before for Arsenal against Cardiff but I didn't notice him as much then.
"He had a difficult role to play against us but he did well in it even if he was getting a bit frustrated. He will do well for Scotland."
The Scots couldn't cope with the movement and intelligence of van Persie, Arjen Robben, and Huntelaar and when the second goal went in seconds before half-time everyone knew it was all over.
Van Persie said: "It was the killer goal.A 1-0 lead is always good to have but when you get a second so late in the first half it gives you a big boost and deflates the opposition.
"I remember Robbie Keane scoring a goal for Liverpool at the end of the first half against Arsenal this season.
"It was the equaliser after I had opened the scoring and it was a big goal because it changed that game.
"Our second against Scotland was also very important but I always felt we were in control and that our movement and pace would cause problems.
"I knew Scotland would be aggressive at the start because that's something all British teams are and you did have a chance with Kenny Miller.
"But overall I thought we defended outstandingly well and that was the basis we worked from.
"The result was good and it was a deserved victory for Holland."
Even so,
van Persie added a note of consolation when he said: "I know Scotland had some injuries and that is a pity. It wasn't fair in some ways because you always like to compete against the best players.
"But now for you it is Iceland and that is a big game in terms of qualifying for the World Cup."
